Impression Prep The first time you meet a person it takes seven seconds to create an impression of them whether it be good or bad. When I met the old man in the library last Wednesday wearing the trilby style hat, I did not think he was going to come up and talk to me. After all, I was finishing up volunteering by making a human sized Scrabble board for Life Sized Game Day. But lo and behold, I was introduced by the teen librarian after he mentioned that he was writing his own book. He told me about how it was a mystery that takes place in a park; it would only be appropriate because the man was a park ranger himself. As he explains more and more of his story in vivid detail, I become enamored. Soon enough, he begins to tell me about his experience as a park ranger. I was amazed at how much one man could go through. He had first told me about the woman who had her face mauled when she was taking pictures with a living bear inside of the car. The husband had urged his wife to lure the bear closer and closer until it was fully in the car so the two could take pictures. He was one of the first people on the scene to help the wife out, only to have her die seven days later. Another time there was a raging forest fire where he was on duty to help put it out. The bullet had managed to doge major arteries, although it did leave a scar that could still be seen today. However the ranger had wondered what happened to the criminal. “Was he caught?” he asked. The police said no. “Are you searching for him?” Another no. The ranger didn’t understand what was going on. They were letting a criminal go out on the loose. That’s when he was told that he had killed the trespasser. When the ranger emptied his rounds, it had hit the intruder. The ranger had killed his attacker.
