Personal Narrative: Kumon

As I was completing my work in Kumon,a math and reading educational center that helps children with standardized testing; all I could think about was what I wanted to get from the prize drawers. Kumon is one large gray room with seven or eight long tables. The owners of Kumon are an Asian couple, Mr. and Mrs. Chang. When I completed my work and hastily checked it over I rushed to turn it into Mr. Chang. He quickly and happily reviewed it, I got a hundred. My best friend Muskaan was right behind me, she got a hundred as well. Muskaan, my fifth grade friend and I (a fourth grader)carpool to Kumon after school every Monday and Wednesday. It was not really a “box” it was really a set of office drawers. Then Muskaan got red, “A hundred Kumon dollars for a highlighter! Are you joking!” “Wait what?!” I screamed. I knew I was not going to be able to purchase the item do to the fact that I have a small surplus of twenty Kumon dollars. That is when we both looked at eachother, we both knew I was going to get that highlighter no matter what. Meaning I would steal it. Then I thought “Well this is not the first time I steal something. My chest was pounding. I thought my chest was going to explode and my organs were going to collapse. Just as I was about to make my escape I was busted. One of the assistance who runs the prize box saw me, and then I froze I knew I was in such big trouble for stealing. I was as white as a ghost and she was as red as a stop sign. That’s when my adrenaline kicked in and I ran so fast out of Kumon the people were hollering at me to stop. But I kept running all the way to my mom in the parking lot. “Hi Kailey, how did you do.” she said happily. Oh no I thought. I obviously could never in a million years tell her I darted out after being caught for stealing. So the only logical thing I thought would be to tell her, “It was good I got a hundred, but I did not get enough Kumon dollars for a prize.” I thought I was going to get away with it I was so relieved but then by the look on Muskaan’s face when she opened the car door told me I was in deep
