It had been several weeks since we had stolen the groundhog shadow. I had stayed up late the majority of the night; I was excited about Groundhog Day. Usually my mom had to wake me up, but on this day, I was dressed and ate breakfast before my mom woke up. My mom was surprised I had so much energy. Other times on Groundhog Day, I dragged myself around and complained about the long winter.
The drive was almost unbearable, but the thought of spending the week in the snow with family kept me going. It was only a four hour drive, but at 9 years old, it felt like an eternity. The scenery slowly changed from flat land, to rolling hills. The hills were covered in yellow dying grass, but they were still beautiful. Then we started to make the climb.
The transition from eighth grade to ninth grade is one of the most difficult but unforgettable things a student must do in his adolescence. For me, it was filled with new opportunities of taking Ap classes and joining clubs. One of these cubs was Youth and Government (Y&G). For as long as I can remember my brother, Riad, has boasted about how amazing Y&G is and how it has changed his life. My brother is three years older then me, so as a freshman he was a senior in Y&G.
After my tenth grade year, I was undecided if I wanted to go to college. I knew about the Move On When Ready program, but was not sure I wanted to be on a campus with most everyone being older than me, at first I wanted to take online classes. I also had to make the choice as to where I was going to attend. Proximity to home, and familiarity with the campus and professors is what determined this decision. I passed the ACT, and after considering my options, I chose to attend Darton State College because it offered me many new opportunities and experiences, and was conveniently close to home.
At first when I was told I would be able to speak my mind as to what my thoughts would be on the effects of what happened and what Mr. Wilson should receive as a time to serve I knew exactly what to say, but when you begin putting pen to paper you get lost and all the fears and anxiety continue at a high level. Below are what continue to haunt me and my children on a daily basis. I still recall the time you woke up and looked over at me with this crazed look in your eyes. You kicked me so hard in my right jaw and right upper arm. I fell into the night stand, then onto the floor next to the bed.
One Saturday morning, I crawled out of bed and went downstairs to have breakfast. I looked out the window and saw a fresh blanket of snow which meant that it was a perfect day for snowboarding! About an hour later my brother, Jacob also came down and ate his breakfast. "Hey Jacob, want to go snowboarding today? " I asked.
When I woke up I was still in the dumpster. My stomach roared like a lion in a cage. I was so hungry I think I was considering eating the rotting banana peel next to me. Hungry, with nowhere to go, I decided I couldn’t just sit here for the rest of my life.

" I took in the unfamiliar setting as I began to become more conscious from my nap. I sat up, moving my long, brown hair out of my face.
My fall walk started on a bright, and sunny day. The birds were chirping and flying through the sky. The wind was blowing the red, yellow and orange leaves off the branches of the trees. Walking through the grass, I heard the sound of dry leaves crunching under my feet. My neighbors had different fall decorations in their yard.
I hurriedly packed on layers of clothes and ran across the street to my best friend’s grandma’s house. My knuckles ached as I knocked on her door, anxious for her grandson to come out and enjoy the snow with me. We spent hours going sledding, building igloos and my favorite, pelting each other with snow balls. Every couple of hours we would head inside to fuel up with hot chocolate and then we would be back at it in the snow. It was the dreamiest day of that winter.
Starting over Starting over might be easy when you are young, but if you are middle age and already have a stable and calm life, it is very hard to start over. My family and I moved from Egypt to The US three years ago, so we had to start from scratch. We found systems in the US are different from my country. After we found a good residence, our concern was finding employment. I was a science teacher in my country, so I tried to find a job in the educational field, but there were a lot of requirements to get a job as a teacher.
