Personal Narrative: Mrs. Hurry-Up

“Wrap and tie, wrap and tie, I should have started in July.” Who would have thought that at the age of six, while donning my granny-styled bun and colorful Christmas apron, singing that catchy jingle would come back to haunt me just like the Ghost of Christmas Past. I really did try to write this essay in July… and August…and most of September, but nothing seemed suitable to write about at the time. It is ironic that my first achievement was playing the lead role of a character called ‘Mrs. Hurry-Up,’ whose name is now befitting of what I feel about my approach towards writing this essay.

Each note is a goal that is accomplished and each measure is a chapter in life. My transition from childhood to adulthood, has taken on the form of a crescendo, not marked by one accentuated note. Many of my successes have left an indelible mark of growth and improvement in my life, all of which have come together to form my symphony. During each chapter of my life, I have tried to engage myself in meaningful pursuits and have fervently worked toward my aspirations one note at a time. My enthusiasm grew greater as I attained another empowering triumph and completed another musical measure. Each endeavor has taught me something about compassion, fortitude, leadership or courage, which are all qualities that will serve me well as I enter college and a career as a physical therapist.
