Personal Narrative: My Adoption Story

An event in my life that is important to me is my adoption story. I chose this specific event because it describes me as a unique individual. Never being a touchy subject, my adoption has always been looked at as a blessing. The three major events that play a significant role in my adoption would be where I was born, what orphanage I lived in, and who I was adopted by.
On July 8, 1997 I, Denis Davydov, was born at The First City Hospital in Ulyanovsk, Russia. I was given the name from the nurses in the hospital who may have read to many poems by the famous Russian poet, Denis Vasilyevich Davydov, who I assume they named me after. My birthmother however did not give me the name. While even leaving a name on my birth certificate that was significantly common in Russia that no official could have traced. There is a story to why they decided to look for children to adopt. In 1993 my parents married and were the happiest of couples. My mother was just graduating nursing school and my dad was working in construction with his father when they decided to try to have a child. Late August of 1995 my mother announced she was expecting and everyone was excited for newly wed the couple. She soon lost their first child, Patricia Rose, to an early still born birth. The were so saddened. It took them many months to gain closure of the mourning and loss of their child. Prayers from our family and prayers of their own to God reached his almighty power and heavens. He graced them with two sons they brought lovingly into their past anguished and utterly brokenhearted lives. A quote from Oprah Winfrey “Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother.” This is true in my story because blood does not make you family, love is what makes
