I was born in Northwest China, in the province of Jiang Xi. Eighteen years ago, my parents had decided to adopt from China after finding out they were unable to have children of their own. After researching about adoption agencies, they found an agency in Texas. Gladney Center for Adoption, forwarded my parents information on two twin girls that needed a family. It was love at first sight and they planned their trip.
My grades dropped drastically because I didn't attend school a lot, because I had no way of getting there or sometimes I didn't wanna go,so I just didn't go. Later CPS got involved when she went to jail for a few days . My dad ended up getting full custody of us and that's when I started my freshmen year at Gila Ridge. I now go to school everyday and I still struggle a little bit but my grades have improved a lot. From this setback i've learned not to just settle for
Mistakes are one of the most common occurrences of human nature, and I felt I was the living embodiment of an unwanted one. I was born a traveler. Four months into my life, I had embarked on a journey that consisted of over 6,300 miles to an unfamiliar home after being abandoned by my birth parents at infancy. Going against convention, I was not raised in a culture of blood; the links which connect me to others are not based in biology, but in relationship. Despite the fact that living as an interracial adoptee is all I have ever known, I have spent an overwhelming amount of time continuously speculating about my biological family in Seoul, what my life would have been had I been raised there, where I would be now had I been adopted by a different family.
I often do volunteer work where I do not see the person I am helping, since it is for such a big cause (ex: Meals from the Heartland), but that is when you know you are making a difference around the world. School has always generally been easy for me.
I had to make sure that my brother did all of his homework, just like my mom does. There was lots of screaming and crying involved, and it sometimes took two hours just to do one math assignment. Needless to say, I had my own homework as well, and I was already very frustrated. As I was working on my homework, I would remember that again, I had to cook dinner because making my grandma cook would be a very regrettable decision. So I cooked dinner, cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and tidied up the house a little bit like my mom does.
1: “Where are you from?” Just about everyone has been asked this prosaic question, for it is a common introductory question. However, my answer to this question is by far the least common. While some people reply with, “Oh I am from Lexington, Kentucky,” or reply that they are from another city in Kentucky, I reply with, “I am from Stavropol, Russia.” A lot of people are taken aback in awe when I tell them that I was adopted from Russia.
I had to take care of my books and do all my work in time. I didn’t really have to do that before; it was really new. I went to high school for a few years after I came to America, but college was a lot harder and I almost
The foster home that I lived in had other foster kids and my foster parents Kathy and Mike also had children of their own as well. My foster parents children were so mean to me. I remember one time their middle child Kristi was brushing my hair and she was hurting me so I kept pulling forward. Kristi had gotten mad that I was doing that
Foster Care The day I got taken away was a day I remember like no other. It feels like it just happened yesterday. The police came to my friend’s house, where I was staying for the weekend and came to pick me up. I went home to get some clothes
Going from fifth grade to sixth was kind of difficult. I went from not having to worry about following a dress code to having to wear certain pants and shirts. Polos and khakis. I wore them everyday for five days a week. But every now and then we got to wear whatever we wanted (with certain boundaries).
July 30th, 2015, i was in the hospital anticipating what i 've been wanting to see all summer. My sister was 9 months and 10 days pregnant. Watching every ultrasound, and seeing every kick. I stayed with rachel all summer to make sure the baby was healthy and she was off her feet. Handling all the cooking and cleaning and entertainment with the two Six year old rascals running about.
My essay is going to be about the day I gave birth to my daugther. Febubary 27,2015 will alwaysbe a day to remember for me. I woke and it was a regular day just waiting for my daugther to decide it was time to come out. i had went to starbucks with my sister , mom , and sister in law on my way back home i started feeling uncomfortable. We got back home and waited around.
My fifth grade summer started with my mother volunteering me as a tutor twice a week throughout the summer. I visited my neighbor’s house to assist her in tutoring kids with math and reading. I of course protested, but my mom being my mom made me do it anyways. After my first week, I began focusing primarily on tutoring elementary aged kids. It took me a few sessions to acclimate to a teaching role rather than a student.
Becoming a father in my life was the best thing that has ever happened to me. Living for someone else and not just yourself is a special feeling. Knowing that it is your sole duties in life are now to love, provide, teach, mentor, discipline and love some more. I always hear people say “ Im don 't think I 'm ready to be a parent.” and to be honest I do not think anyone is ready to be a parent.
Kindergarten to 8th grade I attended a private school called Holy Family Catholic School. The school was very small along with classes, teachers extremely strict and hallways always quiet, the totally opposite from Dr. Henry A. Wise. My first day of high school I was very nervous I was not used to big classes, endless amount of students in the halls and the loud ruckus. This was an educational challenge for me because it was a totally different learning environment for me that i had to get used to quickly. My studying habits also challenged me through high school because test and quizzes were given out frequently and if you didn't know how to study you probably wouldn’t get a good grade.
