My fourth day at Agape hospice I was the administrative of the day. When I was asked to be the administrative of the day I was nervous again. I was nervous because I was in charge of the office in the front. By being in charge of the front,I had the opportunity to work at the front desk by answer phone calls, and help assist the staffs. I was afraid of things going wrong and thing did went wrong.
Day two clinicals. This day went so much smoother. I had the same two patient as the day before and one got discharged and I got a new patient. I feel like my second day I had an amazing relationship with my one patient. I got her to eat a little more that day because I knew what to talk to her about.
How has the clinical experience changed you as a person? I think the clinical experience has had a positive impact on my life. I feel I have slowly discovered how much I enjoy working in a hospital setting. I figured I would enjoy taking x-rays, but you never truly know until you are actually in the environment. In a way I have become more caring as a person, especially when you see newborn babies struggling and fighting for their lives.
The transition from eighth grade to ninth grade is one of the most difficult but unforgettable things a student must do in his adolescence. For me, it was filled with new opportunities of taking Ap classes and joining clubs. One of these cubs was Youth and Government (Y&G). For as long as I can remember my brother, Riad, has boasted about how amazing Y&G is and how it has changed his life. My brother is three years older then me, so as a freshman he was a senior in Y&G.
Poor families often have difficulties enabling their children to receive admission to desired colleges and universities. According to the writer Kim Clark, “Since 1990, average in-state tuition at public colleges has more than quintupled, from $1,908 a year to $9,650” (“College Prices Reach New Record Highs in 2016”). Though countless people wish to be enrolled the best colleges in the country, their parents often is denied the money to afford it. Parents are unintentionally hindering their child due to the lack of a profitable job. Some believe that programs proclaimed to lower tuition costs are effective, yet the reality is that their payoff is minimal for many universities.
I have amassed 1200 hours of patient care experience at my first CNA job at The Elms of Cranbury. My experience at the nursing home was challenging but rewarding at the same time.. My duties there included bathing, feeding, washing, transporting, dressing, toileting, changing and dressing patients. I also had to record the amount of food they ate, how much they voided and the size and consistency of their bowel movements. I had to report any abnormalities, complaints, or medical requests to the nurse.
When I was eleven years old, I tore my anterior cruciate ligament, more commonly known as the ACL while playing in a football game. Being only eleven years old, this was a pretty unusual injury as most ACL tears do not happen until mid to later teens. Hearing that I tore my ACL was pretty devastating. I did not know much about it, but I knew enough to know I would be out of sports for a long time. The next nine months of my life were spent with one goal in mind: getting back to sports.
My Brush with Technosis! 1) I was surprised to find out the amount of technology that I use with a given 24 hour period because I could not believe I was being exposed to technology 80% of my a day. Little did I know that my phone is 65% of that 80%. I rely on my smartphone because it helps me with everything I need to do and it saves me time the bad part of it is that I become more and more lazy because I went from using a pencil and paper for taking notes to using my cell phone to take notes. I rely on my cell phone because the notes I took could come in handy when I am on the subway because I can review the notes and study them on the bus ride home rather than pull out my book and study while everybody is staring. I would consider giving up my cell phone
“Oh please! You guys say that you want to move into this new house because it looks great. The real reason is because the commute to my therapist is much faster. I’m fine mom and dad! I don’t need antidepressants nor do I need a therapist.
I want people to remember me as a very supportive person. Like a therapist. And I think a couple people will remember me that way because I have been very supportive and helpful to those who have needed me.
1. Describe your earliest experience with an advanced practice nurse. Were you a patient, family member, employee, or exposed in another way? What was your initial impression of the professional role of this person? How has your initial impression shifted through experience and/or assignments in this course?
When I was a little girl I remember watching the news and always seeing big scary men being criminals. I thought that all women were mothers and had a family to take care of. I stuck with this theory because I connected everyone to my family. A working father, a stay at home mother, and a crazy younger brother. The stereotypical suburban family.
Everyone will find themselves in a trial at some point in life, the difference in how individuals deal with the situation at hand can greatly impact their future. My first significant trial was fairly tame, but left a lasting impact on my life. I was sixteen years old and first driving, I like most first time drivers became overly confident and didn’t provide my full attention while behind the wheel. I was being unsafe taking focus off the road by messing with the radio. This is when I ran into the rear bumper of another car.
I vividly recall helicopter blades whirring in the midst of the treacherous storm, as if sending an ominous warning. A team of healthcare professionals immediately rushed him to surgery to restore the damage caused by the ruthless eighteen wheeler that had both severely injured him and taken his mother away. I anxiously awaited the results of the surgery as the minute hand inched its way across the clock, slowly turning minutes into hours. Finally, they transferred him into the recovery suite.
Since this is my patient, I am informed with her case and can see the changes that have occurred. Since there isn’t a rapid response team
