This is a fun, exciting, and cheerful game. It has bunches of people watching others. It makes me feel good when I walk up to the plate. I always feel like I’m at home when I step onto the field. I play my position and have fun doing it.
Lani: I was helping for someone’s project for COMM 245; I was in the video lab, in the studio. I was on campus and decided to contact everyone I knew who comes to the school. I remember I sent out a snap saying guys I think there is a shooting, be careful and then I started sending out individual texts to people making sure they were okay, like hey are you good? Stay out of an area.
For my Diverse Field Experience this semester, I spent fifteen hours at the Mclean County Juvenile Detention Center. This particular center was occupied by about 8-14 juveniles at a time, all depending on court dates and occupancy of other nearby detention centers. This center usually had 3 staff members working the shift every time I went, which was seven to nine on weekday afternoons. I was intrigued to go to at this time because I thought it would be the time of the day were the juveniles had no school work or other obligations to do while I was there. I wanted to see what they liked to do in the free time before bed, the only stipulation being mandatory snack time at eight pm.
Group Work Project (Part 1) In our group work project, we set out to demonstrate our own community and social action effort, in order to take a stance against the issues of domestic violence, focusing women in particular. This social issue reveals a lack of equality and abuse of power that operates in society’s gender roles, causing women, living in the margins of exploitation and manipulation. Our social action demonstrates the theories of activism in the community, with the aim of changing this social inequity present in gender roles. Additionally, all the members of the group who are Jamie-Lee, Calandra, Febe, Shohreh and Adama, worked with a Uniting Care women’s safe house, to consult for deciding the agenda and strategies that would be
My hour of code was fun! I played the Christmas tree game, the snowflake game and the “make your own yeti” game. A lot of people in my class needed help with some of the games, but I thought most of them were easy. Last year I remember I did not know what to do… but this year was different. I hope we do hour of code next year too!
My Comp I class allowed me to develop some of my writing skills that already existed. It also taught me new concepts that I had never learned before. Before this class I never knew how to use APA citation. This is now how I’m citing my last major essay.
My favorite season by far would be autumn, winter as a close second. Autumn has always been a season of peaceful business, beautiful colors, and the best flavor ever: pumpkin. With its dying plants that equal gorgeous drives and Halloween where we get free candy and can run around dressed as crazy people without anyone batting an eye. Lots of things happen in autumn, it’s a season of change. I have had a lot of changes throughout the years, one was quite recent actually, I passed my senior moves in the field with a bit of drama.
I would first like to start off by thanking you for your time to listen to my plea. I’m saddened that it has come to this. However, I’m grateful that I have a chance to voice my opinion. I would then mention why I left the area, which is why I was incarcerated in the first place. I would explain my son’s situation and how I was doing what was best for my family.
When looking at colleges, I seek to find a institution that can help me grow in three specific areas to achieve my educational goals. If I can gain a solid foundation in general knowledge, an ever-increasing ability to critically think, and a well-rounded capacity to interact with and administer computer systems, I will become both prepared and uniquely qualified as I work towards my immediate goal of earning a computer related degree. Both the knowledge and the degree will serve me well as I go on to become an employee entering the highly competitive technology workforce. My interest in computers began as a middle school student.
I am writing to inform you of my experiences from my first semester of my W-131 class. Coming into college I was very scared. I wasn’t so much scared of new things, because we experience new things every day. I feared failure, what I mean by that is I have a lot of people counting on me to graduate and to do good. At times is stressful because I think of scenarios of what will happen if I don’t graduate.
I want to create opportunities for myself and succeed. Although I knew I was an excellent student, I did not know what I wanted to do as a career. Nothing really caught my interest until I came into my computation class. I found computers very fascinating and intriguing. When my teacher, Mr. Gupton, saw I was excelling in the class, he informed me about a computer repair club called Cyberpatriots.
In my lifetime, I haven’t had the best of luck when it comes to injuries. For example I’ve been burnt a few times, had many cuts and bruises, even had my head split open but one injury that always sticks in my mind is when I almost broke my jaw. It was about 8/9 years ago and I was at a wedding, everything was going well, the day was lovely the newlyweds and their guest were happy including me until the agonising moment occurred. I was on the dance floor with my sister Kameryn and our friend Chloe, when they decided to take off their shoes and return to the floor and me being the child that I was I copied them, then they both decided to twirl, again I copied but I didn’t work out as well for me as it did for Kameryn and Chloe.
As the oldest, I already have to set the example for my sister. But, there are times when I have to set the example for others as well. In elementary school, we would have "computer class" and "library" where we would have to complete projects, like making a presentation or learning how to cite your sources. At home, I was usually the one who had to learn how to work the computers in the house to help my parents and little sister. Because of that, it was always kind of easy for me at school when we had to make projects.
Scenario 2: Beginning in my first real job out of college I was hired to work for the county social services department. This was an exciting opportunity for me as I had a great desire to work in government since I was young. In working my first week at my new job, I had an opportunity to meet with the Social Services Director. He was a very engaging, confident and passionate man that shared many of the same values that I had. He talked about the importance of all of the employees working together for the common cause of assisting those less fortunate in creating a better life for themselves.
After carefully evaluating my abilities, desire to widen and reform my knowledge and aspiration to advance my career, I wish to pursue a Master’s degree in Computer Science at College. My goal is to work on the contemporary issues in the Information Technology industry and employ the knowledge to provide better solutions to the complex IT challenges. In the years to come, I envision myself as a lead architect designing systems which will get smarter and more customizable through interactions with data, devices and people. My whole life has been a multi-faceted learning curve which has prepared me to take the academic challenges of the graduate life.
