The transition from middle school to high school is what shaped me the most and this adjustment has changed me in both good and bad ways. As a freshman, I enrolled in a private school, called Bridgemont High School. It was a very small school and did not have the same help as the public schools offered. I didn 't have an ELD class and classes providing extra help were limited. Eld means einglish language development, these classes are classes to help develop your english speaking skills even though i can speak english i had poor grammar.
An important activity that I have endured throughout not only all of high school but since I was four is cheerleading. This extraordinary sport has been a huge factor in shaping me into the person I am today. This experience has taught me patience, leadership skills, perseverance, and most importantly trust. My freshman year, I sustained a meniscus injury that required surgery. Although I was faced with what at the time felt like the end of the world, I showed up to every practice and encouraged my teammates.
By becoming the best, you help out your whole team. I can’t win without my team, and my team can’t win without me. When you have practice multiple times a week, and competitions almost every weekend, you are forced to learn the importance of time management. You have to do homework on the way to practice or on the way to competitions. If you ever get the chance to study, take advantage of it.
If you would've told my ten year- old self that today I would be a cheerleader and love every single minute of it, she would’ve laughed and then probably thrown herself off of a cliff. When I was younger I played basketball, volleyball, and goofed around with ballet. I didn’t really love these sports and only joined teams because my mom wanted to get me involved. However, it was obvious by
Achievements I have accomplished along the way include getting state runner-up in high school, being All-American, being the first girl at my high school to receive a full-ride cheerleading scholarship, competing at the National Cheerleading Association, competing at the Worlds Cheerleading Competition, and many other minor accomplishments. All these accomplishments and moments in my cheerleading career, have given me so many opportunities, memories, and lifelong relationships. Looking back, these memories and accomplishments are what made me the person I am today. The biggest takeaway I have from the sport overall is, the work is worth it. When you are passionate about something, the only option you have to be successful is to put every ounce you have into it and the results will show.
Throughout my elementary, middle and high school career, I have always thrived to do my best. I have remained in the top ten percent of my class throughout all twelve years spent in school. I have made many achievements, especially during my fours years in high school. I earned a grade 5, which is the highest attainable score, on both my Algebra 1 and Geometry End of Course exams, I was accepted into the National Honor Society for maintaining a high GPA and I was accepted into the National English Honor Society for maintaining a 4.0 GPA in English. While in high school, I also have obtained my Certified Medical Administrative Assistant certification, CPR certification, CPR instructor certification, Electrocardiogram certification and Emergency
Summer was winding down and I was getting ready for school. I was kind of nervous but I felt good. I was ready to out of middle school. I heard that the upper classman were really rude to the freshman so I was nervous.
This experience has aided me in all other aspects of my life, because it serves as an encouragement whenever something does not go as planned. Having been apart of different cheer teams for about 5 year. Some of my accomplishments would include first place at nationals, first place winner at state, and first overall best at UCA camp. I was even able to make the SACS Varsity cheer team, which is an unforgettable experience knowing that they are one of the best in town. Every single accomplishment has been worked for with hours and hours of preparation, and even years in experience.
While I have various interests and talents that have me involved in numerous activities and clubs, the role which best defines me is my involvement with cheerleading. I cheer in High School and on a competitive team at Cheer Athletics which required a significant amount of my childhood to train to reach the highest competitive level. While High School cheer is mostly social, competitive cheer is my passion as it requires significant tumbling, jumping, stunting, and dance related skills that are fine-tuned over many years of training. This hard core training has taught me many important life skills that I believe will allow me to be successful in all aspects of my life. I started competing at Cheer Athletics when I was six years old as I
Narrative: I moved to Kansas City, Kansas seven years ago. It all started when I was in 6th grade with these girls. I was a different race then them. They thought it would be cool to mess and try to get rid of the white girl. One day, they decided to try everything they possibly can to get me kicked out.
During my junior high school I have a test in sports, which I am poor at that needs to be at a certain grade for me to graduate, for that reason with determination I train in these sports. I memorize every move and rhythm, I asked for my friends help and train with them, I keep doing workouts for the next week, I jogged in my neighborhoods to increase my stamina, and stayed up late at night so I am able to be decent at sports. Eventually the day came and I put in my hard work, and with the support and cheer of my friends I am able to gain a decent grade for me to
Christmas 2006, I’m six years old and psyched about opening up my presents tomorrow morning. I go to sleep Christmas eve and wake up really early Christmas morning. As I roll out of bed I go and bang on my parents big bedroom door. “Bang bang bang bang bang. ”
In high school, I was engaged in a variety of elective classes and extracurricular activities. I never considered myself a superb student, but I had a thirst for any information that I could get my eyes on. My plans to become a U.S. Marine were nearly confirmed throughout my Junior and Senior years of high school, but I continued to find myself enrolled in the most challenging courses offered at my small, private school. Apart from classes, I was passionate about percussion and, in particular, our school’s budding drum line program, which had its inaugural session during my eighth grade year.
In the duration of my middle school years, I maintained excellent grades, except I had just one issue that held me back from a satisfying life. That issue was the fact that friends came very hard to me in my middle school years. Before my struggles at my middle school, Trafton, I had a very productive social life in the Elementary school I attended, Roberts Elementary. Here, it was very easy to make friends and have a great social life, since no hard work was required as a kid. Middle school, however, was a great challenge for me.
Prompt Two People will tell you that senior year will fly by, and that it’ll be gone before you know it. They’ll say that it’s a glorious time full of friendship and comradery, and that you’re supposed to enjoy it. Meanwhile, you’ve got the ACT, extracurriculars, a meager hope for a social life, and the ever-present threat of school on your doorstep. At first, one might wonder why people consider it different from the first three years.
