Superstorm Sandy Superstorm Sandy devastated almost all of the eastern seaboard and parts of Cuba. The hurricane started as a normal tropical storm over the warm waters near the equator (Pacific and Atlantic oceans). Then began to spin counterclockwise and form into a hurricane. The hurricane was given a category one rating on October 23, 2012.Even though the hurricane did not touch the Dominican Republic it still dumped twenty inches of rain in Hispaniola. Over fifty people died from flooding and mudslides.
There are some natural disasters that shake up the world and make people depressed, but Hurricane Katrina was like no other. Even though warnings were given and evacuations were held nearly 2,000 people died because of this hurricane. During the storm winds were as fast as 175 mph with heavy rain all through out. People were stranded and about 8,000 homes were destroyed. People had to wait five days at the superdome full of many New Orleans residents.
During the Galveston hurricane the city of oleander was filled with people that were on vacation. In I Survived Hurricane Katrina, 2005, by Lauren Tarshis, the book, characters, and plot show how Hurricane Katrina affected and impacted the world, the community of New Orleans, and how rescue efforts went into place to save the city.
Having to wait in line for so much time created a lot of chaos. A couple of people got beaten up for cutting line and many people lost their gasoline containers because thieves stole them. With many houses without security due to the lack of electricity, it was easy for the theifs to rob houses. Another reason why the aftermath of the hurricane is difficult is because we had no communication with our family members and we did not know if they were safe unless we drive to there houses. Although the aftermath of the hurricane was the most difficult, it definitely had some pros to it, for example, I met a lot of people to hang out with that I did not know that live so close to me.
September, 1938 off the coast of Africa a storm was brewing and was heading towards the coast of Florida. Conditions everyone on the East-coast went through had a lot to do with the weather. Weather was really hard to spot to know it was a hurricane because when it hit the coast of Florida all it was was rain and Florida gets rain all the time but a couple days in, the weather started picking up. This storm was one of the worst storms ever recorded. Waves were so high it was hitting up to two stories on houses.

Hurricanes are not like other natural occurences that can be beautiful like volcanic lighting or the Northern lights. Hurricanes are very powerful winds that can kill thousand of people. They also put many people in poverty becasue they destroy many homes.

It all started out as a normal day in Spencer, Iowa. I lived on an acreage out by the Spencer Middle School. This means that the hurricanes are spotted right away, it gets predicted where its going to impact first and how strong it can be when it hits the ground. These hurricanes are extremely dangerous because of its high-speed winds it comes with and the amount of rain produced by them, this makes it worst because they can last for days.
There have been at least thirteen named hurricanes that have hit the United States so far, this year, including some of the big ones Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria. Millions have been left devastated by the horrific damage. Climate change brings hurricanes hitting all over the United States and surrounding vacation areas. Recent hurricanes leave people torn between staying and relocating. Hurricanes also leave people wondering why they have been hitting so hard.
It flooded everything, houses, stores, everything. It was cold, so cold it was impossible to go outside without having tons of clothes on. It was a category 4 nothing was left standing not even one little bush. The people were not prepared for this disaster. They overlooked the news, and alerts.

Hurricanes cause severe flooding from their high wind speeds. From our hurricane sandy experience, we can see that hurricanes tear down houses and buildings that are very precious to us.
The Storm Lightning crashes overhead as I race back into the house, dripping wet. I was just returning back from an adventure in the woods. The storm was unexpected, even the forecasters had never expected it. Luckily, I managed to make it back inside safely.
