The past three years I have spent at Terry High School have changed me for the better. I am a completely different person today than I was three years ago as a freshman. I have learned so much not only from my teachers here at Terry, but also from the situations I have been through in these past three years. I have changed my priorities, my group of friends, and in my personality from freshman to senior year.
I attended Henry E. Lackey High School in Indian Head MD which is in Charles County MD I attended Lackey High School my ninth and both my tenth grade years around the beginning of 2016. My last month in Lackey High School was in February, before I left Cousin Jerry and the PPW from my high school told me about Job Corps. I couldn’t stay at Lackey because of the drama going on and my cousin knew Job Corps could provide me with a high school diploma and provide direction for my life. At Lackey High School I was constantly in trouble arguing, being defiant about the rules, and not attending class.
Freshman year came along and I wanted to attend Sullivan High School. I wanted to come back to my hometown, I was just missing the people I started it all out with in the beginning. My dad and I had all of the paperwork finished already to go for me to attend Sullivan High School in August, but my mom refused and wouldn’t budge to let me go. She didn’t want me going to Sullivan, she wanted me to stay with all of my new friends I had made at Owensville. She thought my best bet would be to stay and proceed to go to OHS.
Friday night, around 12:00 am, Mason Stokes and Brian Kasaba were around a wooded, shallow grave area off Clemson road, when they saw the skeletal remains of a body, that was revealed by heavy rain, and eroded soil. Spring Valley Brian Kasaba said, “Mason and I were hungry, but my mom wouldn’t let us use the car, so we decided the walk to the store, and get some snacks. We took the back way to avoid crossing so many roads, and out of nowhere Mason screamed so loud. At first I thought he was messing with me because the area was suspicious, but I looked down and saw a bunch skeleton bones, and we both lost it.’’ With all the rain and flooding went on about five days ago, not many people have been on the roads.
I was doing my internship in LaGuardia Community College. LaGuardia Community College is one of the many two year institutions that is part of CUNY, New York City’s Public Colleges. CUNY is a public university system that offers an affordable, well-rounded college education. My job title is Lab Tech and I was stationed in the B-building. I was working directly under Mercedes Acosta who is the supervisor of the Lab Techs in Math Engineering and Computer Science (MECS) department at LaGuardia Community College.
I have frequently tried to impact the lives of others through service, and found that each attempt has also had a profound impact on my own life. This phenomenon is especially true about my Congressional internship with the Hon. Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Leader of the House of Representatives. Working for Leader Pelosi, I learned that service is about the people who are served, and not just about abstract ideas. I learned to serve others best, not by acting as their savior, but rather as their partner- a partner that empowers them to live better lives.
I feel prepared to pursue similar roles in Clubs and Student led organizations at the University of Maryland.
Awe, the fresh wind blowing in my hair a beautiful view of a Nice calm pond and the sound of angels coming from a coming from a Distance. This is my perfect little spot at Miami Dade College. In my little Spot I do my homework or wait for my next class. Its the best place on the whole campus to be. Breath in and smell the fresh air.
Moreover, I have worked very hard throughout high school to better myself and those around me in the many ways mentioned above. I also serve as a role model, both inside the classroom and out, by pushing myself to accomplish goals even I do not always believe I could, always respecting others and listening attentively to the opinions of people around me, and making an effort to enrich the lives of others. I am hopeful the National Honor Society will help me develop this further, and thank you for taking hte time to read my application.
I believe that I would be an asset to the National Honor Society at Keystone and I have demonstrated the qualities of a member that you would be proud to have. My skills and abilities have allowed me to be a contributing member of society and help others along the way. Whether it be through Girl Scouts, Interact EC, or SMYLE, I find that service opportunities are never a chore but something I look forward to doing. Wherever my path may go after Daniel Hand, I can know for certain that I will continue to be a part of leading and serving the communities I am a part of. National Honor Society Application It is an honor to be selected as a candidate for the St. George’s National Honor Society. I have been working toward this opportunity for many years. I understand how many doors this will open for me by introducing me to better colleges, better jobs, and a better life. I believe I am fit for a position in this organization because I serve my community, exhibit leadership, and demonstrate outstanding character. My service hours will benefit my community and those around it.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to possibly be a part of National Junior Honor Society. I would appreciate being able to be a part of this group to help better the school and it’s environment for people that work there. This would give me a chance to give back to the school district that has gotten me where I am today and has taught me so much. Over the course of my academic career, I have developed several positive traits that make make me a qualified candidate for National Junior Honors Society. My experience from being in a variety of school clubs and leadership positions has equipped me with the necessary character traits for an aspiring National Junior Honors Society member. I pride myself on being reliable, ambitious, and versatile. I have gained most of these traits through being in positions of responsibility.
