Accounting is a business of many different skills and abilities. It includes balancing payrolls, interacting with clients, recommending financial actions among other things. Most accountants require a four year degree, preferably in Accounting. There are also certifications for accountants, such as a CPA certification, which stands for Certified Public Accountant. There is also a Master's program for Accountants, which is an MPA degree.
I job shadowed Mr. Jim Denman of First Bank & Trust, Mr. Denman is the CFO at the bank. He oversees all the accountants and financial decisions of the bank. The site of my job shadowing experience was the First Bank & Trust office in Diboll. Mr. Denman showed me all of the accountants' offices and the server rooms. A typical day for Mr. Denman would be to review the work of his accountants, buying and selling stocks and bonds, having meetings with other members of the bank on major issues.

Working together to solve problems and balance accounts breeds a sort of camaraderie between coworkers. The buying and selling of bonds seems to be the most interesting thing. Imagine just casually discussing buying something with 1.5 million dollars of worth!
The thing I liked least about my experience would be learning about the rigidness of entry level accountants' schedules. Entry level accountants have pretty much zero control over their hours, especially during tax season which is this busiest time of the year for accountants. Accountants that work for businesses work a usual 40 hour work week, but public accountants usually have a 45 hour week with up to 80 hours a week during the three month long busy
