I fell in love with basketball when I was 5 years old, and it has taught me many life lessons ever since. Basketball has taught me about teamwork, work ethic, time management, and healthy living which are helping me become successful.
I learned that teamwork is one of the most important skills needed for a successful basketball team. We have to be able to work together to achieve a common goal. To be honest, I have not loved every single teammate I have played with, no one has. Through experiences in basketball, I have learned how to handle situations and work with many types of people. There are certain ways to deal with a conflict with a team; communication is the key to dealing with these situations. Real life requires teamwork also; at work you are put on a team. Basketball work ethic means showing up to practice early, putting in your best effort all throughout practice, and practicing outside of practice on your own. Work ethic not only applies to any sport, but it is involved in other aspects of life as well. As a teacher’s aide at a daycare, I use work ethic every day. I could choose to use my phone while watching the children, like other aides do, or I could choose to interact with the children to help them grow physically, mentally, and emotionally.
