Each individual has his or her own answer to a question “who am I.” From time to time, they will constantly change their answer as they are exposed to different environment and the answer will be varying since everyone has his or her unique life story. In Susan Griffin, Gloria Anzaldua, and Alison Bechdal’s essays, the authors tried to achieve the true expression of identity through the relationship with the labels created by the society and the other people most time family members. In these essays and comic strips, the authors emphasize how the relationship with those closed to them, such as their family members, can influence shaping their identity. I am Mica Herrin, a struggling college student from a provincial town in the middle of nowhere with a bank account that is composed mostly of some change I found in the fountain, but my lineage is a story that consists of much more. My family is vibrant and diverse, spanning across most of the west coast, the mid west, the south of the United States, as well as into northern Europe. We are a ragtag collection of farmers, intellectuals, artists, and creepy uncles all with our own unique tales of travel, wonder, and woe. My personal story begins in the Mobile Infirmary in Mobile, Alabama on July ninth, 1996. As the second child of Kevin and Darla Herrin, I spent the first three years of life in Mobile, Alabama before continuing my life journey to Dallas, Texas.
Journal Day Entry Two While having a long great discussion with my girlfriend about a topic that I would have never come across my mind, it was about further education. It is true, there are many different ways to receive education for example, trade school, online, university, community college, junior college, or even military. Out of all that was mentioned earlier, the most popular forms of education is online, going to a university or a community college, or even joining the military. It is unusual to me to hear about junior and trade school.
Usually in life, it is best for anyone to take a step back to the past and look at the big picture. No one could flatter himself that he is immune to the changes around him. Moreover, with all the demands that life can put on a person, sometimes it is easy to lose the essence of “me”. By losing this essence, the person could develop either a better version or a worse version of himself. Looking back at the beginning of this year (freshman year), I have been just that young soul eager to meet life’s challenges especially culture changing challenges.
When I was little I always tried to keep to myself; I never really wanted to be more than be an average student. I would go to school and would go home every day and never tried to do more. I never was a leader at that age; I was known to be kind and caring but I rarely took charged of a situation and always stayed in the background. It wasn’t until around 8th grade that things started to change, I began to realize that

Introduction As a young child, I was very shy with a giant heart. I thought the best in everyone and was anxious about others and whether or not they liked me. I lived in a small town up until I turned ten years old, living with my biological and abusive, absent parents. I was a good student, afraid to fail and upset my mother.
I was a blank slate for my family to build upon; to raise the perfect daughter who abides by the norms that they are familiar with. Those norms include how I should behave, my mannerisms, and the goals that I must attain throughout my life. Shielded in my household and not allowed to interact with the environment around me at a young age, I was oblivious as
Throughout my life I have come from and created a few identities for myself. Perhaps, the most dominant identities that have been apart of my life are being an athlete and being a family orientated man. In this paper I will write about how my identities have shaped my life. First off I believe my biggest identity is being an athlete.
Do you know who you are? I’m not just talking about your name and age. What I’m talking about goes way deeper than that. Anyways, there’s this girl who’s so desperate to find out who she really is. Sure, she knows what her dislikes and likes are, but what else does she know?
The time of the Holocaust was viewed by most as one of the darkest times during human existence. Many other people view this time as a time of medical brilliance and much innovation. The Nazis in particular were determined to create the faultless human in order to have the upper hand over other militaries or countries that they viewed as threats. The people that suffered the most repercussions were those that they viewed as unfit or non-beneficial to the human population; such as Jews, homosexuals, handicapped, and gypsies.
Self-identity is defined as the recognition of one's potential and qualities as an individual, especially in relation to social context. In other words, self-understanding. Finding self-identity is more more difficult for some people than others. In the autobiography Black, White, and Jewish: Autobiography of a Shifting Self by Rebecca Walker, the author reflects on her identity as a mixed raced individual which is illustrated through Walker’s reflections. People define themselves in many different ways.
