Personal Narrative: My Personal Experience With American Host Family

Since I came to the USA, for the first year, I have stayed with American host family. Host family is important role for international students, especially for people who are the first time come to the USA. I have been in host family for two years when I was in high school. To explore my experience as living with host family, I chose to use auto-ethnography. Auto-ethnography is a form of self-reflection and writing that explores the researcher 's personal experience and connects this autobiographical story to wider cultural, political, and social meanings and understandings. My purpose in writing my auto-ethnography was exactly to consider the structural and personal experience about cultural and to consider how, in my experience, I have made with the questions that how international can live with host family and how do success life in the USA. After school, whenever they did not have time to pick me up, they called private diver to come instead. Therefore, I did not get any trouble when I was with them. Whatever happen, I was took the initiative with my host. In another way, this way can make me to initiate with society. When I was with them, I felt they were my second family. I helped them to cook, clear the house, decorate when we had party and any big events. Because of those, I can understand about their culture. It was also helpful for me to have conversations with them to improve speaking and listening skills. In order to, I could have a safe place to live, have people to share stories while being far away
