Day two clinicals. This day went so much smoother. I had the same two patient as the day before and one got discharged and I got a new patient. I feel like my second day I had an amazing relationship with my one patient. I got her to eat a little more that day because I knew what to talk to her about.

I was highly impressed by the overall teamwork in the emergency department. It has a sense of organized chaos that would have taken me some time to adjust to. My nurse and I ended up going through a large group of patient during the time I was there. The nurse has this uniformity to how she would get her tasks done. The thing that through me off was the amount of stuff got done with our patients by other people.
I was only six months old when my birth family decided they couldn’t take care of me. I had a serious medical condition that needed surgery, they knew they couldn’t afford. I Needed to get open heart surgery because I had a leaking valve in my heart. Blood wasn’t able to pump to the rest of my body. You hear of children being left at a police station or being left on a door step.
Today after school I received a phone call from my mother. When I answered the phone I could tell that something was wrong by the tone of her voice. My mother told me that I needed to come to Finley Hospital right away. After I hung up the phone I rushed to my car and drove to the hospital. When I arrived at Finley my mother met me at the doors and said “Hayley your Papa has been in the hospital because his throat was swelling up and he couldn’t breathe”.
My medical volunteer trips to Haiti played a large role on my decision to practice osteopathic medicine. The medical trip was the initiation of a medical organization name “Heart in Hand”. My interaction with the locals in the province of “Cotes-de-fer” and “Grand Goave” were very rewarding in the aspect of giving back through medicine. I believe in volunteerism for the less fortunate, I also believe that a healthier person have a better shot at improving their lives more so than a sick person. It was beautiful. I was shocked every time I saw the view. All the other rides seemed so boring. I only wanted to go on the Power Tower. My dad was there right next to me every time I went.
It had more stairs that led up to the light but we were not allowed to go up there. I was not fearful at all. In fact, all my fears had melted away. I felt perfectly safe, and was happily distracted by the mesmerizing sight before me.
Once we got on the ferris wheel we gazed at the willis tower with its lights and how pretty it was. We knew we wanted to go into there later on but we never did.
