Over the summer I traveled to Tennessee to see my cousins. The day we arrived, we visited Lake Winnie, an amusement park with tons of rides with a water park. It was a joyful day. That day I went on the first roller coaster I 've ever been on. While walking nervously up the steps to get into line with my cousin, I felt the adrenaline rushing through my body, and I felt very anxious.
Growing up in southwest Atlanta, Georgia, I have been surrounded by ‘black success’ instead of just ‘success’ for the duration of my life. The blacks in my area are equally as successful, if not more accomplished than, the non-blacks, but we are always titled separately and put into a captive box. The box we are held in told young girls that they should aspire to be athletes, cosmetologists, or plain unemployed. The same box told young men that they could only be considered “somebody” if they were able to catch a ball well. These are occupations we would ‘best be suited for’; these are occupations that perpetuate the box.
we took tours of lots of beautiful cities. of course our children came along but they were busy on their little new phones we bought them. trust me
When I Went To Florida I went to Florida after 4th grade in the summer. When we went to Florida, Jaxon my sisters, brother came with us. The night before we left he stayed at my house. When we left the next morning we left at 3:00 A.M. While we were on our way we both had to sit in the very back of the car because my sisters came with us. The ride there was not fun at all.
Time. 10:19 p.m. South Florida. The traffic light rests at red for an eternity, mocking me with its condescending gaze. I quickly turned my head both directions, not a car in sight for what it seemed to be miles.

I was only 5 or 6 when i moved down there and we used live in dayton OH, but it took us about a week to decide if we wanted to move and pack up everything. I live in a minuscule town in Western North Carolina, where southern traditions are very important to the majority of the population. Such as drinking sweet tea, eating biscuits and gravy, and going to church. Here within one of those important traditions lies why I had to take such a significant risk. At the beginning of my eighth grade year of middle school, only a mere thirteen years of age, I knew I was different. However, what made me different would surely turn many against me.
I was born in Chicago and at the age of 3 my family moved to Alabama. I felt like an outsider my whole life not understanding the southern heritage life style. My parents seperated when I was 5 and I found myself living with my Dad and two brothers. I was not a girly-girl to say the least. As I got older
I have never really considered Greenville the town where I grew up in. But, it is the place where I have made many changes in my life and grew to be the person I am. I guess I consider the place where I grew up to be home, and I do not see Greenville as a home. My heart has always belonged in Georgia, because that is where all my family lives and I have the most memories with my family all together. When it comes down to it, Greenville is in fact the place I grew up.
As I walked into the school, I immediately noticed how old the building was. You can tell sections of the building had been there for decades as doors, lighting and rooms resembled a style more fit for the 1980’s than the 2010’s. However, additions to the building have been added to accommodate size concerns, with those sections having newer structures and being better lit. However, I did notice, at least in my classroom, students had laptops to use, though the laptops were school property.
I'm exploring various areas for retirement, which presently includes Raleigh/Durham, and possibly Asheville, for visits up to six months of the year. Hopefully, I will be lucky to meet acquaintances who are similar in age who are willing to connect without the need for a rushed relationship. I would like to settle down but I am realistic and will admit that I am careful. I am hopeful for a mature commitment in the future. An important aspect is flexibility as my lifestyle involves travel, which is unavoidable.
My Trip to Florida It was a cold winter night in Upstate New York. My mom and dad were enjoying a cup of coffee, my sisters were playing video games, and I was editing a few pictures on my computer. My mom brought up the idea of a vacation. She said” We haven’t been on a vacation for a long time”.
I felt happy that I was going to Alabama again. I like seeing my grandparents and I like that they are still there. I think the weather is going to be warm and I am thinking about having a fun time when I am there. I was very happy to hear my mom and dad tell me that I was going to Alabama.
“Full of history, beauty, and the latest technologies,” were the things I heard of the great country of Japan when I was younger, and due to its growing prevalence in Western society, it only continued to be a part of my life growing up. I’ve always had a curiosity in things that stand out and interest in cultures outside of my own and learning the perspectives of others and why their lives may differ so much from mine. I admire Japan’s society for quite a few reasons. I appreciate their hospitality, not quite unlike the “southern hospitality” I’ve come to know in Georgia, and the virtue of revering your elders and respecting them is also something I’ve come to admire greatly, wishing the same could be incorporated or said for American society.
