It was the last inning in our all-star game, and we were losing 10 to 8. Our team had 2 outs and we couldn’t get the third. Our pitcher was doing bad, throwing all balls, while all of us in the field were tired, ready to fall asleep at any moment. There goes another walk. They score again.
That One Player It was 1965, I was in NYC,Brooklyn. I was walking through the projects, the clouds were crying, raindrops proliferating. Streets were flooded with Whites. I was depressed, I'm always getting mistreated because I'm always different than white people. They would push me, jeer at me, and even spread rumors about me.
Left It All Out On The Field This quote is from the daily record, mentioning me after the Smithville football game. “As much as he tried to fight it, Chippewa’s Jake Hall couldn 't control his emotions. Like many of his teammates, the senior linebacker left just about everything he had in him on the field friday night in a 23-20 overtime win at Smithville in Wayne County Athletic league play”. This was by far my best game of my senior year football season.
The start of my freshman year was a thrilling experience for me. To start out my freshman year I made the schools Varsity soccer team, a huge accomplishment for me. However, I was naïve to the coming situation to myself. I was on the path to continuous harassment from teammates as I was surrounded by seniors. Last year I became captain on the Soccer Varsity team of my high school. Being captain isn’t just being the head of all the girls, but is doing the best for the team. My goal was to work as a team in and outside the field, and working together to win and have fun. But my conflicts with certain girls were getting in the way, because how can I expect them to do a certain thing if I’m not setting an example. I chose to talk to those girls, set things straight and set an example to my teammates.
I am inflated and drowning in nervousness. For the past two years of my high school life, I had missed tryouts, both times not knowing when they took place. Finally, with careful planning, the year I claimed my spot on a soccer team had finally come. Born the son of an ambitious and idealistic soccer coach, it didn't take me a long time to kick a soccer ball. From the age I learned to say "mama" and "baba," I had spent hours playing soccer outside on the streets of East Africa.
Finally, tryouts were over. The season ahead would provide a clean slate, an opportunity for a new beginning. Although the Bulldogs faced a challenging schedule, our coach was confident we would again attain the championship spot in our Division. Despite my anticipation of a successful season, lingering anxieties nagged at my assurance. Last year, as one of three sophomores selected for varsity soccer team, I was delighted to be amongst the elite group and motivated by the opportunity to play with the upperclassman.
Soccer has been a huge part of my life to say the least. I began playing competitively at the age of 4, and for years I continued to pursue it. This passion for soccer is ultimately what led me to Northwestern College in the form of a scholarship. For 2 years I played on the men’s program, with my final year being one in which I was a team captain. As a captain I was responsible for assisting in the design and execution of team practices, leading team lifting sessions, and motivating players on and off the field.
It was just a normal Saturday afternoon at the soccer field, and our team, The Strikers, were ready to play. It had been a nice few days in Garden Grove, but not for long. We had all arrived at 9:15 to warm up, and the game was at 9:45. Our team had been warming up when it started to become overcast. Of Course we would still play, because we play in almost any weather.
I know soccer like the back of my hand, I have one person that inspires me to reach my goal, and I am in shape to demonstrate what I am coaching. Playing soccer is one of the best things of my life and I know almost everything there is to know about soccer, that’s one of the big advantages I
I wish I could include a picture of me playing soccer with this essay because that was all I did from age five to fifteen. Soccer was life for ten years so most people are surprised to hear that the fall of my senior year in high school I will Captain of my high school Cross Country team. How I became Captain of a running sport is an accomplishment I never saw coming. If you had asked me in elementary school, middle school, or even my first two years of high school if I would do anything but play soccer I would have said never. I am the youngest of three boys.
Now that i 've grown mentally I learned more about soccer and how it should be played. I now think teamwork is very important. And great teamwork leads to winning and more accomplishments. Just a few months ago after a game my coach was proud of me and how I make very good passes also how I always look for open players to pass to. So I guess nowadays I pass more often and I also look for teammates that are opened on the field.

Leadership interview I was given the chance to interview Hailey Hunt who has a position on student council. She taught me about her position and how she has been able to help others. She has taught me the many sides of being a leader and how it can be quite trying at times. I have found interviewing a leader is very different from researching about a leader.
