I Skyler Pifer Captained my boat to East shore of baseline lake, Pinckney MI on the 4th of July. With family and friends aboard to enjoy the band on the water an each others company. We arrived approximately 2:45pm after securing the boat I left to walk around to socialize, after 45 minutes I returned to my boat to find our rebel flag removed from the canopy. I was told by Melanie McIntyre a group of men came by an told them to take the flag down, I being appalled immediately placed the flag in its original position on the canopy. With no immediate threat present I left an returned to walking around the sandbar enjoying the band an nice weather.
New residents of the Tangerine subdivision, Lake Windsor Downs, were not told about the hundreds of miles of lignite in the field just outside their homes. There was a pond that supposedly had koi living in it. There were trees and plants near the subdivision. The area was beautiful and was peaceful until there was smoke - filled air.
It was a cold November 16, 1934 and Everett Ruess was in a sticky situation. He was stuck in a snow igloo hastily made 6 days before his hands were poisoned by a rattlesnake’s bite. The rattlesnake that had bitten him had an owner, Frank Dandis, his greedy childhood friend who moved to Escalante, Utah five years before. Six days ago, they were the best of friends, but now they were bitter enemies stuck in an igloo because of a whirlwind snowstorm. Frank Dandis was a farmer who had always dreamed of being a roamer, one who explores nature’s natural beauty as a profession.
Hi, I’m Eugene Skinner, and I was part of the Lafayette Escadrille during World War I, which was a squadron of primarily American fighter pilots who fought for France before the United States entered the war. Although I lived in France at the time, my roots were dug in the US, and I came over seas because my father told me that all races were treated equally there, and for the most part, that was true. However, when I first moved to France, the only job I could find was one as a carnival target, which sufficed until I was noticed for my boxing talent. Just before the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, I moved to Paris in hopes of making it big, and I did: I ranked number four in the country before I enlisted. But why would I end something so wonderful, you ask?
“I’ll get the paddleboard on the rocks,” I called up to Mason. He was already halfway up the stone stairs that led up the hill. I leaped up onto the first stair, and bounded up the hill, jumping two stairs with every stride. I was overjoyed to be in Northern Michigan on Long Lake, the largest of the twenty inland lakes in Long Lake Township. My hockey teammate, Mason, had invited me up to his amazing lake house.
In two weeks my Dad, my brother Zach, and I were heading to Canada to go fishing in a remote cabin on an island. The lake was called Lake Wabatongushi, a 22 mile long lake in the middle of Ontario, Canada. We had scheduled this trip months in advance and were just now shopping to get all the lures, rods, and gear we needed. “Can I buy it Dad?” My Dad nodded and I snagged it off the shelf.
Family is the biggest significance in my life, even if I did not have the strongest bond with all my relatives, because I knew I could count on them if I ever needed help. Relatives came from all over the United States to come celebrate with me, so I truly felt special that day.
It is a very drafty feeling, I feel like I am not a part of this world. Although I have my theories, I know for a fact the truth of why I am named Ishmael Leseur. When I was just a young child, quite fresh out of the womb you might say, I was not normal. I came out of my mother without shedding a single tear and my doctors knew I was abnormal. All I have every wanted was a normal life and to grow up like an average boy but, people have always treated my as if I am borderline stupid.

The drive up to Lake Winnisquam is exciting and uneventful as usual. Through smudged windows, I watch the passing scenery, anticipating all the fun we will have this fourth of July. The switch onto Lower Waldron road was a recognizable turn and a sign of our proximity. We each scoot towards the edge our seats, heads pressed against the glass, eager to be the first to spot our destination. “I see the house,” my sister squeals with excitement.
Michigan is a wonderful place for activities all year round. From boating and backpacking in the summer to skiing and ice fishing in the winter, there’s something for everyone in Michigan no matter the temperature. However, climate change is bringing unpredictable changes to the weather that are causing destruction to Michigan’s activity catalog. Warmer winters and rainy summers are ruining skiing outings and beach days across the entire state. People are having trouble finding skiing hills with snow on them recently, and “Michigan’s winter has been a whiplash of cold and warm temperatures, challenging snow-dependent ski businesses” (Moore, 2023).
However within the story the individuals as well as the narrator see the lake as being the best place to spend their time. The story describes the lake as being, “fetid and murky, the mud banks glittering with broken glass and strewn with beer cans and the charred remains of bonfires.”
I was waking up at 6, helping make breakfast for the Native American children, then going to do construction at someone’s home. Then after all that we had our VBS for the children which was the most fun I ever had. After VBS, since most of the children don’t have family friendly homes, we hung out with them until the town curfew came, which was 11:30PM. The children were always reluctant to go home but we assured them we would see them again tomorrow, Lord
All in all, I saw a lot of things and got tons of experience. It was also awesome to get to see all the old friends who I hadn’t seen in a while and they really
But at the end i'm finally able to go on a family trip. Two days have passed every day has been more and more exciting for my brother and I. My brother was so excited one day that he was already in the car because he thought that we were already heading to the airport. The night that we were leaving we had to wake up at 3:00 in the morning.
