I’m interested in starting a small duct tape craft business. I enjoy making items such as pillows, purses, wallets, etc out of tape. Everywhere I went with one of the items, people would come up to me and ask where I would get it from. When I told them that I was the one that made it, they would ask could they have one too. I wasn’t sure if I should sell them or just give them away. I asked my mom and she said since they were small items, then I could just give them away. After, I started making the big stuff that's when I knew I had to start selling them. So I came up with the idea of making a small business. The products that I will be making are a pillow, a dress, a purse, wallets, etc. Depending on how many rolls of tape that I need will …show more content…
Thinking of a name for a business is probably the hardest thing to do. Eventually I will think of the name for my business. Since my business will be online I have many options on where to start. I can start by using Etsy or Ebay. I will probably use them, but I could also make my own website. When having my own website, I will have to see if my domain name is available. A domain name is the part of a network address that identifies it as belonging to a particular domain. Usually the domain name is the name of your business. When I finish with the domain name I will have to pick a layout for my website. There is a ton of layouts for websites. Since I’m a beginner in business, I will probably have to search on how to build a website. After I’ve done all that I will have to make it legal. People think having an online business is easy, but they are just like any other business. There are online business regulations. I will have to read up on them and see what will be legal and what's not. I will need a lawyer or an attorney, so if something happens, I will have …show more content…
And how big the package is, you can buy your own package or you can use the mailing service packages. You will also have to weigh it. How far it's going and the weight of the package will determine the price of the product. My products will probably not weigh that much unless I stuff it. When picking what kind of duct tape to use, depends on what I'm making and the season. For Halloween for example, I can use glow in the dark tape for a candy bag. For Christmas I can use red, green and white for a wallet or a gift bag. The colors will also have to go together to make it look good. But sometimes I will probably have requests to do some unusual color combination. I will have to be creative and think of different designs to use for my products. Since duct tape doesn’t cost that much money my products will probably not costs more than ten dollars. Unless they buy multiples. Even though I want to have my business online, people in my area will probably want something. Since these people are so close I can just give them the item they wanted. In school, I can get orders and give them their item. But I will have to check with my principal and see if i'm allowed. My audience is really children, children enjoy the things that I can make. I can go to my mentor’s business and ask her can I sell some of my products there. I could also give her a flyer so the kid’s parents can see that I’m selling
