The Chipmunk Who Didn’t Fear Human Life
To have a life that is much shorter and more fragile, but just as equal to yours is something only humans and small animals can really compare. Humans are larger, scarier, and more dominant than animals like squirrels, birds, and even chipmunks, but sometimes the smaller animals have the biggest impact on life and new meanings. We all just want a life that is full of exploration and the discovery of how each other thinks and lives. On this specific cold and breezy day while working in the garden I saw how much alike animals and humans can really be.
As my summer job I took on gardening for a family friend, it was a job that I didn’t love but it had its perks. As summer started to leave us, the fall leaves start to change colors and the chilly days came more often than nice days, meaning the gardening season was almost over for the year. It was the last day I need to go and I was ready to be finished. The past few hours had consisted of pulling weeds and tossing around the dirt, it was nothing special. Neither of us moved, we just stood there both being as quiet as we could while the wind howled, admiring each other and trying to figure each other out.
