Soft and pleasant like the scent of fresh-cut grass. Sweet and compelling like an evening sunset. Crisp like the weather in the air. The road is a narrow and there are no cars in sight. It is more like a walking path, but I can see tire tracks on the lightly dirt road. The moment is very tranquil except for the sounds of birds singing, insects shrieking and mosquitoes buzzing. The mosquitoes are a real nuisance. There must be hundreds of them so there’s no point of striking them from left to right over and over again. The area seems to be vacant with no sight of human existence around. The only available sights of life seem to come from the emaciated dogs and cats wandering the streets. Up the path I can see a cumbersome animal. It appears to be moving sluggishly and unhurried. As I move closer up the path the large animal becomes clear, as I can now see that it is a cow crossing the street. This is not the scene that one would experience in New York City but I do imagine it to be the sights of “the land of many waters”, Guyana. …show more content…

Guyana is identified as one of the only English speaking countries in South America. Although I have never been to this country people claim to be beautiful and very colorful, I have perceived so many ideal things about it. Growing up in a Guyanese house hold I have been exposed to countless exotic foods, pleasurably sweets, and deliciously spicy to vibrant music that can tell accounts from stories of scandal to stories of love. Being exposed to Guyanese traditions and customs, it has affected the way I see life, and my own
