Personal Narrative-'The Star Spangled Banner'

Five tourists visiting Hawaii embark on a relaxing tour lasting for a mere three hours. Ominous clouds surround the tiny ship; an unforgettable storm approaches. The ship is quickly thrown into the tempest amongst torrential rain and brutal winds. The two-man crew courageously wrestle the storm and battle the tumultuous ocean waves with little success, but their brave acts are not in vain; the crew’s valiant efforts ensure the ship's survival. The ship crashes into an uncharted island completely void of human life. The seven survivors face their most daunting challenge: surviving on the deserted island until they are rescued. This is the story which has consumed much of my time outside of school but I find that it helps to ease the stress of my in school hours. The slapstick humor and outlandish circumstances of survival energize my spirit regardless of my situation in the continuum of life. My father introduced me to the series and it has since strengthened our bond. My father is very different than myself but here we find a common joy. My father and I will make time specifically for sitting down together and watching Gilligan’s Island. This may be the only time that we spend together in a given day. I am constantly focused on either working or school and he has to work or do things at home but we are always prepared to come together and enjoy an episode of Gilligan’s Island. He also reminds me of the Skipper in the fact that he carries an immense amount of authority yet he is very caring and is always willing to lend a helping hand to help anyone along.
