Unfortunately, she didn’t live to see her
Yvonne Allen does not have any right to wear her headscarf in her licence photo due to the security issues it would create. She believes that her rights are being infringed upon, but doesn't realize that a licence is a privilege not a right. It is hard to argue this fact when it says literally nowhere in any law or precedent that any U.S. citizen has any right to a licence. Allen only uses two defenses one of which is how her faith is tested “in a way that was humiliating and demeaning”(8), a judge will never consider this as a good defense on why she should get her licence, because it is based on emotions not law. Her other defense was how Muslim women were allowed to wear their own headscarves in their driver's license photos, but this seems
A long time ago or maybe a few days ago never mind I can’t remember but it was in the past when I met her. Who is her you may ask Myah is the her Myah Mitchell. This girl is someone who changed the future without trying this is her story. Myah Mitchell was the meanest girl at Winchester High school she made up lies about students hurt their feelings but today Myah would meet her match .
Day 2 Immigrant. That word gives me a label here. I am crossing the border to the U.S because my parents think it will give us a new beginning and a better life. I think they’re wrong. Our life in El Salvador was fine: We had a nice house and we were healthy.
There was once a boy living in south McAllen which was often referred to as La Balboa, and a sweet loving young girl living in North McAllen, these two individuals were unaware to the event that would soon be taking place that would change both of their lives forever. These two individuals were my mom and dad mom was usually refers to as La Prieta while dad was called Willi. It was the year 1995 where Willi’s friend Ray and La Prieta’s friend Cristina begged and begged for them to go on double dates with them, both Willi and La Prieta always refused. After begging for so long they finally but reluctantly agreed to go out with them. They weren’t expecting much but to go out and hopefully have some fun along the way, little did they know the
As a Cuban-born woman, my expected role in society is clearly defined; my thoughts and personality have a mold into which they must fit. However, a month before my fifth birthday my family made the decision to move to the United States and in doing so liberated me from these expectations and gave me the freedom to explore my own interests and beliefs. Ten years later, they were making preparations for my Quinciañera. Due to my Cuban heritage, my coming of age was set to be commemorated by a very long and very expensive night of food, dance, and family. For the same cost as the down payment on a relatively small house, I would be given the opportunity to put on a show in a dress that restricted my airways and provide food and drink for about
Bowl of Sunshine Is there a person in your life that would go beyond out of their way just to show their love and support for you? Even though most people do not have someone that they can say has truly been there throughout everything in their life, I do. My hero is my best friend, Angie Jimenez, and she has many amazing qualities in her, but the ones that truly inspire me are how she strives for something she has her mind set on and how she manages stay positive throughout any difficult situation. For instance, Angie is one of the most dedicated people that I know in my life. She takes many extra-curricular activities in school and is able to maintain high grades in her advanced classes.
Why I was so upset we had a rematch and we began having so much fun splashing each other with water. I remember these good and cherished moments that I grow fond of. All the laughter, yes I do recall. And now she is gone; all that’s left are these memories of our childhood together. I will never see or speak to her ever again.
Well this weekend kicked off with a great start. Starting with my basketball dominating at our game. I actually scored a basket for once and played good defense. It was a very frustrating game having people yell at me from all sides. Though in the end we played a great game even with a few bumps along the way.
White, soft, sand beneath my feet. A slight breeze kisses my heated skin gently as the crystal waves flow methodically in and out, in and out. I had wished, begged, and pleaded for a white Christmas this year, but this is not what I had hoped for. At least my family is all together. Another Christmas, another strange and exciting place filled with culture and buzzing with activity.
and I left. It wasn’t until second grade that I met Natalia again.
I could do so many things with her. We would spend hours playing table tennis, which mostly consisted of laughter and never got tired. My favorite though is just sitting with her and chat over a cup of coffee. Time was never enough, when I was with her.
Her name was Aimi she is the main reason I still wake up in the morning. “Did you make your lunch” I groaned Mom made it for me, Our parents work all day only time we see them is on the weekends. Aimi loves school one kid I ever me who loves getting up early and going to a place where you only sit and write. Maybe it's because it's the one time of day she’s able to hang out with her friends. I grab my keys and see her watching the news something about war and how you are able tryout for the army.
She was miss. Popular, everyone loved her, and everyone wanted either to be with her or be her. Constantly I’ll be stopped by people just to ask me questions about her or they would ask me for the answers to the math homework. On some occasions people would even ask me, “Why are you so ugly yet your twin is so attractive and is just so beautiful?” When I heard things like this it made me feel so ugly.
Madonna Stretching out beyond the horizon, an empty expanse of white is all that stands out in its mocking glory. As hard as I try to conjure to anything akin to mental functionality, the same result is all I deal with. I got nothing. Alas, one can only push against the barriers of his mind for so long in the hopes of expanding the reaches of human cognition.
