Personal Philosophy Of Education Analysis

In the modern era there are many ways to approach education. Everyone has a different belief on how and why we educate. My personal views are a bit of a combination of various ideas ranging from Social Reconstructionism to Essentialism. Personally I believe that education should, if done effectively, teach students all the various approaches to life while doing what they think would be most beneficial to them and their society. They can help reconstruct society and make the world a better or push forth the economy with their ideas. They could learn all the basics, stem off, and do what interest them or continue advancing to higher levels of education. With the increasing ethnic and cultural differences in schools across the United States, education needs to address that not all children come from a traditional household or have the same backgrounds as would be traditionally expected. Muslim, Christian, Jew, and Secularist may be classmates so the thin lines of political correctness need to be treaded lightly. I would teach based on my standpoint but give alternatives that make sense and still work within the realm of academia. Of course I think it would be best if the students were taught of all the contributions of other societies so that they learn to appreciate the world as a whole by teaching all aspects of history that pertaining to diverse leaders in innovation and important historical moments. Not just that , however, I would try to teach (while still on topic and not roaming off reservation of course) from the various viewpoints and allow the children/teens/young adults to understand the various aspects of certain issues including racism, anti-Semitism or other religious persecutions, wars, opinions of opposing sides and why certain issues happened. Psychologically, children need to either be on par with their group or within close range in order to be developed properly. However, not all children are the same and the teacher needs to adjust to fit the needs of all the children in order to better assist them. Then there are the physical needs of the student that need to be met. Frankly, this is where I have a problem with the education system the most in regard to development. Not only are they not meeting the physical requirements that are needed in order to be healthy, but they are also losing some of those important social and physical activities that play an important part in their development. For instance, I have a peer tutoring position at the moment in a Physical Education class working with first grade. I can already see the changes! Some of these kids are behind in development socially simply because they never learned how to play. So I have to teach them how to play and not hurt each-other, something that bridges the area of parent to now school issue, while also making them do their physical task. It isn’t too hard especially with a good batch of kids, but all the same they still seem a bit less spritely than I remember
