The classroom is going to present many interesting and challenging situations, regardless of how prepared teachers are. The "be reasonable" key will be very useful, for me, in learning that not all students are going to be interested in every little thing I teach. Kids are kids; they are going to be bored. Making sure I am comfortable with what I am teaching will allow for unexpected interruptions or breaks. I am not expecting that my lesson plans will be flawless, but knowing the material will allow me to be creative and flexible.
Most all of my education classes have pushed “reflection” in one way or another, and I believe this will be a great tool in aiding teacher success. My personal philosophy for education is "teach the student, not the subject," and like the course material states, there is more to teaching than just what is being taught. However, I do understand the important concept of organizing for tomorrow, today. This will make or break my first year as a teacher. If I can keep that simple thought in mind, I believe I will do ok.For ten years, I worked as a 911 Paramedic in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, and I dealt with my fair share of crisis, pain, and death. The rewards of this job were silent, but at the end of the day, I knew that what I did mattered. After several years, I noticed that the job was getting very physically and emotionally demanding; I didn’t want to go scrape two-year-olds off the street anymore, just to go home and tuck my own in bed. These were the type of events that made me realize I did not want to miss any more holidays, weekends, or family gatherings. With no regrets, I had the privilege of saving a life, bringing a little life into this world, and watching a life go
