A Philosophy of Balance
Each modality of healing has behind it the desire for balance. What has been most predominant to me in the past two months of study is that every modality of healing is a different expression of our desire for self-preservation. The evolution of the healing practices of humankind is centered around our ability to empathy and our ability to research and understand the natural world around us. Herbal cures are a constant in all modalities of healing and are my key interest within naturopathy and the history of healing. As my knowledge of healing grows so does my understanding of the human desire to heal as well as my interest in healing practice.
As I have learned, in many ways over the past two months, there is a constant search for balance in a human life. Both internal and external balance guide our daily lives. Not only have I learned this in the context of my studies but also within myself as I journey through study. A decrease in free time and study time due to higher demands of my job left me feeling overworked and deflated; in week 9 in particular. I feel I have a newer awareness of myself and my environment, gained by the experience of practiced learning.

I have noticed this concept, in particular, as it seems to be translated by life on every level. From atoms to stars, the push and pull between chaos and order or negative and positive exist to find balance. Learning about the history of the development of healing practices has transformed many of my ideas towards health and healing into knowledge with evidence. Giving myself an opportunity to succeed in something unexpected has been a challenging experience so far, but only in the best kind of
