I have been thinking about the certain types of career(s) that I may want in the future ever since I began college in my first semester back in 2012. There are many types of jobs that I have envisioned, that I could see myself doing. I have pictured myself primarily doing computer related jobs such as a computer technician, computer analyst, software/hardware engineer, and even a video game designer/network security administrator. I am both intrinsically, and extrinsically motivated about these jobs. However I believe that I am more intrinsically motivated than extrinsically.
I am intrinsically motivated by these types of job professions because I love working in the world of computers. The world of computers is a constantly ever changing profession, but it is a profession that always delves into its roots and then explores the ideas created upon them. It is a profession that will always be changing, but at the same time it can be said that it is routinely comparable regardless of how much it changes. I have general experience in most of these

They are careers that are considered highly lucrative and always needed, and because of this they include high pay and usually good benefits. Another extrinsic motivation that I believe I would have with careers such as these is I like to be graded on my performance and to be praised and noticed. These are rewards given to you with professions such as these, and it is something I highly enjoy as I have experience with it. Extrinsic motivations are also important in these type of professions as they keep you on the ball so to speak, computing in general can becoming boring at times, so it is always nice to have something to be motivated for that isn’t intrinsic. A cool tidbit of information is that is proven that extrinsic motivations, however small they are is that they can increase work performance by up to 10-20%. (Motivation of Life Ch. 3 PG
