Over my short, seventeen-year lifetime, I have had passions in many areas, from geography to soccer to leadership. However, as I have grown older, I have had a growing passion for the schools in my area because they taught me everything that I know and have given me all the opportunities that I have taken advantage of. Because of this growing passion, I became involved in two very important organizations that influence the future of the Sartell – St. Stephen School District: the Community Schools Planning Initiative and the Sartell – St. Stephen Board Of Education. The Community Schools Planning Initiative was launched at the start of 2015 in order to come up with a vision for the future of the Sartell – St. Stephen School District and a plan to match that
I am interested in becoming a TK assistant teacher at Providence Day School. My life experiences and my enthusiasm will allow me to teach with compassion and understanding to help students achieve academic success while nurturing their social and emotional skills. I will be graduating from Queens University of Charlotte with a degree in Elementary Education on May 6, 2017. I am currently completing my student teaching in first-grade at Sharon Elementary School.
I am a decent to the average writer. Mr. Harper told me I was a good writer, but that is suspect at times. I like vocab, it is
I want to be admitted into UW Oshkosh to help me have a better education and brighter future. My high school diploma is the foundation of my education but my college education will be the main structure for my future. UW Oshkosh will provide me with more than just a degree, it will provide me with an experience that I don’t think I can find in any other college. I know UW Oshkosh is the right college for me. I am a good student for UW Oshkosh because I plan to be an involved member of the Oshkosh campus community, I am a hard worker, and I know getting a degree is how I will obtain a career I want.
After reading Stephen King's essay "Reading to Write" (72) it opened my eyes for writing. Although being a professional novelist isn't a goal I want to pursue in my life, writing is something I will need to learn how to do with good form. When it comes to the writing department, it's not one of my best skills. King says, "Good writing, teaches the learning writer about style, graceful narration, plot development, the creation of believable characters, and truth-telling" (73). I will try my best to become a good writer.
Throughout my education, writing strategies persisted to be a challenge for me. I dreaded writing because I could never find ways to transition my thoughts from my mind to the paper. Ironically, a class that petrified me due to the amount of required writing ended up helping me in numerous ways. English 1301 and my professor prepared me for college and real life by giving me a foundation of effective learning strategies.
When I first saw Perkiomen, I remember think I really wanted to attend school here and I could picture myself as a student here. I would like to attend an independent school for a variety of reasons, and I will contribute to Perkiomen’s environment. I would like to attend a private school, specifically Perkiomen School, due to many reasons. If I attended the Perkiomen School, I would be able to participate in entrepreneur, a class that my school doesn’t offer.
I have a warm heart when it comes to children, I’m the eldest of six children and I am usually the one who everyone comes to for comforting, understanding, and just to listen. When I was applying for college I immediately chose Human Development and Family Sciences with a focus on Family and Child Services; and I have not changed my mind yet. All of my classes and activities are so interesting to me and I love becoming more knowledgeable about the things that make a family a family and how they function. I am also a firm believer when it comes to, “Children are the future.” What we put into our children now is what will get from them later and I love the idea and everything that comes with it to make that happen in the best way possible.
My goal/plan for after high school is to go to Middlesex County College, to become a nurse. In order to achieve my my goal is to work hard. The obstacles I would face is probably time. I would go to hospitals and learn what other nurses do, I would get to know how important this job is. I would get to know specialist nurses that have been working for years.
My writing process has improved drastically because of all the practice i have had. What I have learned about writing is a good essay has a beginning, middle, and end. I also learned authors use quotes in the middle of their story to make their writing more suspenseful. Great writing has only enough words to get the gist or main idea of the story. If there is too many words in writing, the reader can get bored of the story.
While in Composition I my writing skills have dramatically increased. I learned the importance of the writing process and identified several of my strengths and weaknesses. Pointing out my weaknesses and fixing them allowed me to become a better writer for future English classes. A strength that was showcased throughout many of my papers is my tone of voice.
The comments from my instructor, the online material, my research, the online writing center and comments from other students in the discussion boards have helped me so much to improve my writing skills. In the writing process, the step that I feel I have improved a lot is editing, as I am constantly reading my writings and editing them as I finish them, over and over again before I publish them. The steps in the writing process that I like the most are finding a topic in the Pre-writing step and Drafting. I like having a lot of ideas floating around and think about which idea is the best and the most exciting topic to talk about.
Writing has always been an issue but yet interesting subject of mine. As hard as I try and write essays, and papers I just can’t get the hang of writing. But after taking this class, I did learn different writing technique and improved my writing proficiency, material body of formatting, and how to uncovering and properly use sources. Through class exams, essays, and a research paper, I was able to learn new writing skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my writing still needs improvement.
I want to easily start and end a story. Have better word choice and punctuation. I don’t want to be scared and worried every time I have a big writing piece for another class. I just want to overall be more confident in my writing. My expectations for myself is that I push myself out of my comfort zone for writing.
Learning new skills in writing has assisted in so many over ways than just writing for school, it has helped in my career. Writing is such a beneficial trait to hold. I plan to improve day by day. I have so many opportunities available and plan to use to my full
