1. What would it take to get you to be a possible active, involved, and dedicated participant in the political world? What special traits, abilities, and personality characteristics do you have that could make you potentially successful in politics? In today’s generation, politics are not as popular as they could be. One of the main reasons it is not as popular is because youth and today’s millennials are not as informed on the subject. I do know that students hear about a lot of politics sometimes in high school, but is it enough that can make each student want to be a part of it? No, I do not think so! If I were to be a part of the political world, I know that I am a person who has a great sense of integrity. As much as I could be a “great debater”, one also has to know how to listen, and I share great listening skills! In politics you have to have an open mind, and to realize that there is more than one way of thinking than the way that you may have in mind. Being brave and tough is also traits that I share. In politics, some things will get ugly, and some things that should not be said will have to be said. Being the brave and tough person that I am, I know that I will be able to say the things needed so that I can get my point across. Having passion, loyalty and being able to empathize with those in the community would also make me very successful. The community loves people who can advocate for them, show them loyalty, and those who have “heart”. A person should be able to say as they are pleased no matter who it may offend if there is no clear and present danger. However, that person should realize that there will be an opposing side and there is nothing that can be done about it. It is possible for hate speeches to turn into hate crimes, as that is highly unacceptable as it would be prohibited under my circumstances of allowing hate speech. When we allow hate speech who could it really be hurting when someone could easily oppose of it? If hate speech does cause extra violence then those who initiated the violence should be punished.
