To all the people in this room that have ever been affected by a death; who have been in unbearable pain, both mentally and physically; who have been scared to the point they cannot go on. You know how much that hurts. You know the pain. You know how much stress is put on you. Imagine going through all that torture. All at once. All for nothing. All because someone thought, presumed and accused you of something you didn’t do. We all know the ultimate price you can pay for a dreadful deed you do, is death. But what if you payed the ultimate price for a dreadful deed you didn’t do.

The death penalty has killed countless amounts of people and has negatively impacted so many more. So why hasn’t it, like other killers, been sentenced to death for the heinous crimes it has committed. Stated by the international commission “Public support for the death penalty does not mean that taking away the life of a human being is right. There is undisputed historical precedence where gross human rights violations had had the support of a majority of the people, but which were condemned later on.” People may want to free from crime and horror but taking a life is never the way to go. The end of the death penalty will mean the end of thousands of deaths and the start of thousands of lives.
If we truly want this world to be great, and for everyone to be treated fairly. We need to end the death penalty, we need to end crime, we need to end suffering. We only have one life, and humanity needs to stand up to preserve it. The death penalty is wrong, it is cruel, and it is inhumane. We all deserve a second chance, even those who commit a heinous crime. Those who do the wrong thing should pay for what they did, but not by death, incarceration is payment enough. Now is the time to end capital punishment, now is the time to stop it, now is the time to kill it, just like it killed so many innocent
