Euthanasia, also known as assisted suicide, physician-assisted suicide (dying) , doctor-assisted dying (suicide) , and more loosely termed mercy killing, basically means to take a deliberate action with the express intention of ending a life to relieve intractable (persistent, unstoppable) suffering. Some interpret euthanasia as the practice of ending a life in a painless manner. For example, a doctor who gives a patient who has terminal cancer an overdose of muscle relaxants to end their life would be considered to have carried out euthanasia. The word "euthanasia" was first used in a medical context by Francis Bacon in the 17th century, to refer to an easy, painless, happy death, during which it was a "physician's responsibility to alleviate the 'physical sufferings' of the body."

Another reason is that the individual who is terminally ill has the right to commit suicide in this case physician assisted suicide to bring an end to their unbearable suffering. The next reason persons might support euthanasia is that they argue that terminally ill persons should not be forced to stay alive and suffer to their expected end, euthanasia is a good way of bringing that individual peace on their own term.
There are ethical and pragmatic arguments that support euthanasia. From the ethical perspective they argue that individuals have the right to freedom of choice as well as to control their own body and life has long as the rights of others are not infringed upon.
