Acid Rain

More than 30 years ago a skeptic persuaded senates to perform a study to find out if they should be worrying about Acid rain. The study showed that yes they should be worrying about acid rain because it is making 3,000 lakes and streams too acidic to support aquatic life. Due to the studies the 1990 Clean Air Act was established and basically said that major power plants had to lower the amount of sulfur dioxide emitted. The Environmental Protection Agency recommended a rule that will cut sulfur dioxide emissions by 70%. Senator Thomas Carper, Democrat of Delaware, recommended a bill that would eventually cut emission by 80%. The Environmental Protection Agency’s regulation to reduce the sulfur dioxide emission by 70 percent would make a big difference if it worked properly. The bull that Senator Thomas Carper proposed to cut dioxide emissions by 80 percent is also a good idea that should be done correctly. All three of these acts, regulations, and bills put together should cut sulfur dioxide by a large amount and get rid of a lot of the acid rain seen. These rules should also help with aquatic life.
