As I am sure you are aware, there are handfuls of students who are disrupting the Improved Learning for Everyone Revolution by breaking rules set down by teachers and other superiors. We recently finished reading Animal Farm in which propaganda was successfully used to control the opinions and thoughts of the masses and suppress discontent. I think this idea can be applied to the problems we now face. As a member of CGS’s Super-Secret Propaganda Department, it is my goal to propose potential methods of propaganda to reduce some of the more prominent problems such as foul language, phone usage in class, and disruptive behavior. The first rule violation I would like to tackle is foul language. Many kids grow up in and around homes that constantly cuss and may think that is a desirable trait. We cannot and should not interfere in their language at home, but many find it unwelcome at school. My suggestion to correct this habit is to appeal to their authorities. Many of those who curse do so because they find it necessary to be “cool” or to imitate those they are around or aspire to be like. Phones are becoming more and more addictive and a larger part of students’ lives. They are on them almost constantly and ignore teachers’ requests to put them away. I believe the most effective use of propaganda to solve this problem is to portray devices as a common enemy ad nauseam. Portraying all phones as an enemy eliminates the possibility of excuses and makes students less inclined to use them. Portraying them as such to the point of sickness brainwashes students and breaks down the barriers they had against phones being bad.
