Overconsumption has been a big problem for many, hence why there was a day made to stop the buying of products. In September of 1992 Canada created a day called Buy Nothing Day where one will simply stay at home and buy nothing. This day just so happens to fall on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving where many will go out and spend so much money on what they think is a great deal. Leaving the day after such a gracious holiday takes time away from the things that really matter. Many people will choose to go out on Black Friday and spend the whole day shopping instead of at home with family, but Buy Nothing Day was made to help stop that.
