“In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!” — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) Dec. 29, 2017. On New Years Eve the president tweeted this, as temperatures dropped into the single digits in New England. Clearly global warming is not something to wish for and it can be argued that it is the cause of this past decade’s hottest years on record. Climate Change began toward the end of the 1800’s when the Earth's temperature started to gradually increase as a result of the “greenhouse effect.” This happens when gases get trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere …show more content…

There is evidence that Climate Change is a real threat, but unfortunately our current administration has not taken steps to address the problem even though there are laws they can put in place and policy changes they can make to keep the problem from getting worse in the future.
The impact of Climate Change has been well-documented and if we continue to do nothing the result of Climate Change will be detrimental to the earth's environment. The weather will begin to change, temperatures will become more extreme, and droughts will become more frequent. Sea levels will continue to rise and animals could become extinct as a result. NASA warns that this greenhouse effect might cause harm to animals and plants that live in the sea. On land, animals could be forced to new habitats. The weather patterns could change. This is already happening with the recent hurricanes that swept through Florida and Texas. Not only that but California is suffering with a persistent drought which is causing …show more content…

The government should make laws for manufacturers to use fewer fossil fuels and instead use more wind and solar power. “The United States must pursue policies that will reduce emissions and protect the planet for future generations. Allowing businesses to self-regulate has failed to limit domestic pollution,” This states that in order to cease Climate Change that the United states government needs to put in place laws that diminish the use of fossil fuels manufactures because industries won’t do it on their own. One way for the government to do this is to create a “cap and trade market”, which is between solar or wind producers and fossil fuel producers. In a cap and trade market, the solar producers would give the power they saved by means of using the sun and sell those “credits” to fossil fuel producers. This is a way to make fossil fuel producers pay for polluting and also give them an incentive to switch over to solar or wind. Opponents believe that the government should not create a cap and trade because it would cause Americans to lose jobs especially in the coal industry by moving over to solar. They also believe that cap and trade would cause consumers prices to rise. On the contrary, more solar and wind jobs are being created and it will help the environment if the United states could uses more renewable fuels. "By creating a market, and a price, for emission
