Many students and staff have a full day of classes and having a full schedule does not permit enough time to go off campus for lunch. In addition, there are some students that get dropped off by their family, friends or public transportation and not able to leave during the day. That means some students are bound to stay on campus and limited to the junk food in the vending machines. Poor weather could also limit the students from going out and the cafeteria could be utilized in times like this. A cafeteria would offer staff and students the convenience and the choice of having a healthier meal on campus.
As I walked into the cafeteria, I caught a whiff of the food being prepared in the cafeteria and thought to myself, “Why can’t we go off-campus to get lunch?” While SLA, the lunch program at Catholic High, provides the school lunches, there could be an alternative solution to this. Unfortunately, students are detained at school during lunch hours and are not able to leave campus during lunch forcing them to be served by SLA or bring their own lunch. If Catholic High School were to introduce an open-campus lunch, students and faculty would benefit greatly. While SLA does provide the lunch at CHS, they do not live up to their standard of “high quality, nutritious, and cost efficient”.
Another issue that deeply affects students is the lack of time to eat. All three thousand students are fed at once, but the lunch period only lasts for thirty minutes. By the time students are actually able to sit down with their food, most of the period has already flown by. As one teacher points out: “The line for kids to get their food is very long... They get 10 minutes probably to eat their meals” (Kozol 717).
An argument analysis In this paper I will look into Plato’s dialogue Crito in which Crito, Socrates’ friend, is trying to convince Socrates to escape from the prison of Athens. Socrates manages to convince Crito with his argument that is constructed of four major premises that lead to the conclusion that Socrates should never escape. Three of those premises were clear and agreed upon by both Socrates and Crito. The fourth premise is constructed of two sub-arguments. In this paper I will explain the premises that they agreed upon as well as explicit Socrates’ two sub-arguments, which I shall call parental and contract arguments that he used to convince Crito with his major argument that reaches to a conclusion that he must not escape the prison of Athens.

In the United States a community college is defined as a nonresidential junior college offering courses to people living in a particular area. They are post secondary schools and are also referred to as junior colleges, vocational or technical schools because generally the course of study is for two years. The student can earn an associates degree or certification and/or continue their education by transfering to a four year college to complete their educational pursuits and earn a Bachelor 's degree. Community colleges started in the late 1800’s and have grown and evolved over the years. Today many four year colleges and universities have become so expensive to attend that many prospective students are opting for the more affordable alternative of a community college for their first two years of study where they can save money by living at home and taking classes that will transfer to a four year institution, however, there are students that cannot afford the lower cost of community colleges.
Community colleges are important because they provide an affordable alternative to postsecondary education. They offer open admission, flexible schedules, and convenient locations. Community colleges make up a large part of the higher education system, enrolling more than six million students and growing rapidly. They help students become prepared to enter the workforce or transition into a four-year school. But even with all the steps taken to make community colleges accessible to all, there are still thousands of students who cannot afford to attend.
I had my first tuition class when I was 10 years old. The need came when I cried my eyes out for a Mandarin composition homework that I couldn’t write. My parents themselves were stumped by the homework and thought it was best to enrol me in a Mandarin tuition class. Nowadays, kids as young as 3 years old are enrolled in tuition classes. Is there even a need to send these children for extra classes?
