Persuasive Essay On Concealed Handguns

Picture in your mind a United States filled with safer citizens where lots of stores and banks worry less about the chance of robbery. This could happen if we allowed citizens the use of concealed handguns. I believe that since concealed handguns reduce crime, stop public shootings, and help people in times where law enforcement can't arrive soon enough, adults should have the right to own concealed handguns.
One good reason is that allowing citizens to use concealed handguns reduces crime. Studies have shown states with concealed carry laws have the reduced murder rate by 8.5% and and robbery by 3%. Also, in all 50 states, 1,570 murders and 12,000 robberies could’ve been stopped if they had allowed concealed carry. (Procon.org, 1/31/2017) Furthermore, police officers even support civilians owning concealed handguns. (Connectusfund.org, July 24, 2015) Plus, when Florida passed its concealed carry law, its homicide rate fell from 36% to 4%. (Gunfact.info, 2/24/17) So, since the police want us to have concealed handguns for our protection, and since concealed carry laws seem to work to lower crime chances, why not have them? A while ago, when some states allowed concealed handguns in 1977 through 1995, multiple-victim shooting chances decreased by 84%, not to mention that in those shootings deaths decreased by 90% and injuries by 82%. (Procon.org, 1/31/2017) Also, it has been on record that there was a citizen that stopped a shooter who was pinning down police in Early, Texas.
