“A 1985 Department of Justice survey of incarcerated felons reported that 57 percent of the felons polled agreed that "criminals are more worried about meeting an armed victim than they are about running into the police. "(Larry Pratt) Researcher Gary Kleck found that 92 percent of criminal attacks are deterred when a gun is merely shown or, rarely, a warning shot fired. This means that open carry would have the effect of deterring crime in the same way that a thief might choose another restaurant when he sees police eating at his intended target.
Self-defense is key to survival in the day that we are living. The concealed carry law allows any person from the age of twenty-one years of age or older to carry a firearm, if they have a permit to carry that firearm. The law was passed so that you could legally carry a firearm in public to protect yourself. It is called the Second Amendment. There is two sides to this argument some people believe you should be able to carry a handgun on your hip in public.
Open Carry or Open for Disaster On the big issue of open carry, which deals with openly carrying a handgun with a valid concealed hand gun license. I believe that the law allowing open carry should not have passed because anyone could obtain a gun for nefarious purposes, terrorist and criminals can walk around more openly with weapons and unworried, and open carry can cause a great deal of panic and distress in citizens. Texas one of open carry’s biggest supporters on the topic agrees with the law but many citizens do not and for good reasons. So many criminals will feel safer and stronger being able to carry a gun without fear or being stopped or checked.
POW!! Imagine you just saved your family from a slum trying to take what you worked for Tough right? Well that can all change now. A concealed carry pistol can define, your life and death. Here's why, concealed carry should be for american citizens and why it should be legal for anyone without any restriction and permits, Also why concealed carry helps with crime and protects thousands of americans.
Concealed Carry: Should The Age Be 18 or 20 Years of Age? Guns, they’re already a touchy subject in the world today especially with mass shootings and terrorist attacks on the United States that could happen at any moment and when the new bill proposed to lower the concealed carry permit age to 18 to 20-year-old people, a good number of claims were brought up to go against the bill. With the majority of the people who this bill would affect, most of them are in college at these ages and with most campuses having a strict no gun policy this bill would not really be useful to people on campus like some of the arguments that are for the bill claim that the bill would come in handy. Some of the arguments against this idea deal with sexual assault,
so people can feel more protected. As Well as giving people the protection that need if other resources are not available to them at that time that they need it. Next, concealed weapons give people a sense of awareness after taking a class on how to use their weapon. Finally, carrying a concealed weapon can decrease many risks that we have in day to day life. The “concealed carry lifestyle” should not be just pushed by gun manufacturers, but instead should be pushed by some organizations that support it.
Non supporters of concealed carry on campus have great counter arguments for the pro-gun supporters. Someone carrying a weapon can be easily disarmed. A weapon can go off accidentally through negligent discharge. According to ConcealedCampus.org, “Among the more than 150 college campuses that currently allow concealed carry, there have been three accidental/negligent discharges—two by faculty/staff and one by a student. Two of the negligent discharges were the result of the license holder carrying the gun in a pants pocket without a holster (both of these incidents resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to the license holder’s leg), and one was the result of the license holder showing a new gun—a gun with which she was not yet familiar—to her coworkers (this incident resulted in only minor abrasions that did not require medical attention)”.
The reasons pros to having the gun caused the first is the symbol of freedom, individual rights to carry a gun is an important symbol of the freedom of the individual. The second is for personal protection. The third is a better individual, armed right certainly does not include citizens who have a history of criminal offenses against society or someone. The fifth is the Gun Control, through this method it will be easy for law enforcement to identify what happens if the crime was committed.
Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. Many citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would reduce the threat of crime. People have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting and recreational activity. With the recent events involving firearms and mass shootings, people are skeptical whether to increase or decrease gun laws. Americans have a constitutional right to own handguns and stricter laws and licensing will not effectively save lives.
A few years ago, a student named Amanda Carpenter attended the University of Nevada at Reno. She was walking to her car from class when she was attacked and raped. This student felt as if she had been allowed to carry a concealed gun, she probably would not have gotten raped that night (Wiseman, 2012). There are many misconceptions about carrying a concealed gun, everyone is not criminals, and everyone will not commit a crime. A thorough background check, training, and the passing of a test should qualify people the right to carry a concealed gun everywhere.
Concealed guns are allowing the public to overcome the dangers in the world, but they are also a danger in many ways. These dangers have lead to many horrific accidents in our present time. These incidents are also causing more people around the world to join in on these events. Concealed guns should be banned because by permitting handguns, it can end up causing more crimes, dangerous people are more likely to carry a gun and endanger the public, and guns can make the public paranoid.
Gun control also limits our constitutionally derived right to own firearms. If gun control is enforced, law-abiding citizens will be forced to give up their guns and their right to own guns, while many criminals who own guns may illegally keep theirs. As the saying goes “If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.” Guns are an important aspect of our society in many ways. They allow for protection, recreation, and hunting.
Gun Control Gun control over the years has been a controversial subject, with people arguing for both sides. The 2nd amendment states that everyone in the U.S. has a right to bear arms. Mass shootings and suicides by firearm have been a growing concern for many people living in the U.S. Numerous people making the argument that there should be more gun control. Having gun control would help lessen the deaths by firearms in the country for a variety of reasons.
Guns are just a tool, like knives and hammers and it completely depends on the people on how they use it. People who support guns and arms say that the Second Amendment secures individual’s right to carry guns with them and that gun rights is needed for self-protection, and was intended for military to have peace and defend the country if needed (Spitzer, 70). Most of the Americans use guns as a source to protect themselves and they believe that gun ownership prevents crime. A study conducted on November 26, 2013 showed that bans on weapons did not significantly affect murder rates at the state level (Lane, 5). Moreover, even if the rules and regulations are executed on gun control, not all criminals obey the law.
Campus Carry Should teachers and students be allowed to carry guns on campus? It would decrease the probability of a school shooting and if one does happen they can intervene quicker. Staff and students should be allowed to get a special permit to carry on college campuses. Today’s staff and students are responsible enough to carry on college campus. Professional staff and some students are above the age of twenty-one which is the legal age to carry.
