You may think that if steroids are legalized then sports would stop being about who trains the hardest and who puts more passion and it would become into who has the best drug, you are wrong. So let me answer by making question. Do you know who Robert Mathis from the Indianapolis Colts is? No. Do you know who Arnold Schwarzenegger is?
Drugs are a big issue in the sports industry. Many athletes will take performance-enhancing drugs, such as steroids, to help them play better. These types of drugs should not be allowed because it gives the player a greater advantage over other players who are playing with their natural ability. This issue could be solved if there was monthly drug testing and if the drug was not so easy to get ahold of. Many major league baseball players are getting caught using performance-enhancing drugs.
There are many arguments supporting the ban of PEDs from professional sports. A science-based argument against the use of PEDs in sports includes the possible side effects that accompany PEDs. Using PEDs can be detrimental to ones health and each drug comes with different unwanted side effects. The side effects range from superficial problems to long-term high-risk medical problems. The side effects aren’t just physiological but psychological too.
My point is that engaging in drugs while participating in sports can be very dangerous. Drug testing should be mandatory for athletes for their safety. The reason for drug testing are; teams depend on their teammates to always be available, drugs can change your athletic abilities, and students join sport teams as a positive activity to avoid getting into trouble and the presence of drugs in sports defeats the goal. I personally know how it feels to be on a team with others who use drugs. They practically “slow-down” the team.
The reason why is too many athletes are getting arrested and dying from using too much steroids. I think they should get banned and the athletes should perform to their natural ability. I also think that the athletes would perform better without use of steroids. So therefore the research and I think that performance enhancing drugs and steroids should be
“Performance-enhancing drugs absolutely give athletes advantages in strength and endurance, which helps them both in the preparation for their sport as well as the actual implementation of the skills needed in many ways for the different sports.” (Argintar) Anything that can make an athlete better in an unfair way that can not be done by all athletes should not be allowed, especially something this harmful. Anything that is not worked for and earned should not be given in the form of a pill. This also lessens the actual wonder of an amazing athlete that is not doping, because due to the amount of people doping today we just tend to assume they are using something they should not be using to be that athletic or
Robert l. Simmons, a doctor of philosophy, for marjorie and robert W. McEwen professor of philosophy at hamilton college, reported that "I would argue that prohibition [of steroids] is justified because (1) steroid use makes little sense if everyone uses; gains are minimal and everyone is exposed to the risks, (2) how your body reacts to a steroid is not an athletic talent like running or hitting.. This date proves that if everyone uses steroids it would make more sense not to use them because if everyone uses them everyone would have an advantage and everyone would most likely be equal in the sport.... If a player is caught using steroids he should be out of baseball for a full year. If the player uses them again, he should be banned for life. No one uses steroids by
Drug Testing Weekly for Student Athletes Christopher had an experience when he had a teammate doing drugs. Since these athletes did not have weekly drug tests his teammate did not get caught. He believes that his teammate's future had been hurt by doing drugs. Christopher believes these athletes need to have weekly drug tests to help the athletes doing drugs.
Steroids is one of the newest known performance enhancers and they are used to increase the growth rate of muscle and strengthen bone structure. The first time steroids were used was in 1954 World Weightlifting Championships in Vienna, Austria. The Soviet Union’s weightlifting team dominated after several testosterone injections which led them to win gold medals in most divisions and break world records (ProQuest Staff). An athlete Ben Johnson who was a record breaking sprinter was banned for two years for his abuse of anabolic steroids. There was also NFL player Lyle Alzado who attributed his terminal brain cancer to steroid abuse.
In conclusion, Performance Enhancing Drugs should not be tolerated in any sport, whether professional or amatuer. These drugs are highly dangerous and even lethal to all athletes who use them. It is also unfair to athletes who choose not to use these drugs, as they are performing on their hard work and talent and not relying on an “edge” to help them reach their goals. These drugs are highly addictive, just like any other street drug or alcohol and can be fatal in many cases.

Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) have been used in sports for many years. The common term for it is doping. It is one of the most important issues among professional athletes today. Doping should not be allowed in professional sports. The use of performance-enhancing drugs creates a disadvantage for the athletes that don't use PEDs since they will not perform as well as the athletes that used the drugs during the game or competition.
Drug Testing in High Schools for Student Athletes Despite the known fact that car accidents are the leading cause of death among teens, 9.9 million people age 12 years and older report driving under the influence of illegal drugs (“Drug Facts”). Drug testing for student athletes could save a considerable amount of these lives. Student athletes in middle school and high school should be drug tested in order to participate in sports at school. Drug use violates athletic department rules. If drug tests are positive, student athletes can be suspended from school and their sports teams.

Murray, PhD, President of the Hastings Center, in the chapter¨ "Sports Enhancement" ¨published in the 2008-2009 From Birth to Death and Bench to Clinic: The Hastings Center
Every athlete has at least one fan and, when this athlete is caught cheating to win using drugs, they leave their fans disappointed. One clear example of this is Lance Armstrong, was without a doubt, one of the most inspirational athletes of all time. The fans could relate to him as a cancer survivor, but they were also impressed by him famously ‘winning’ the Tour de France seven times. Later he admitted that he used testosterone, human growth hormone as well as EPO, which is a hormone produced by the kidneys to stimulate the red cells production. His confession left his reputation on the floor and left a bad view in cycling championships in Europe.
