The common things that people are addicted to include, alcohol consumption, smoking tobacco, and playing games. However, I do not have any of these problems, and I always try to eat healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to stay in a good shape and healthy. But while trying to eat healthy foods, I realized that sometimes I consume too much of sweet foods and drinks, like juices and dry fruits, and since they are high in sugar, too much of them is not healthy. In the past few months, I have been thinking about reducing the amount of sweet foods I eat each day, and when this assignment came out, I though it would be a good experiment and the first step of my goal to achieve, reducing sugar intake. It might be unhealthy to stop eating fruits and some other sweet foods, but I believe that it is for my benefit to stop eating any food that contains sugar for three days so I will be able reduce my sugar intake by eliminating unhealthy foods in the future. According to an article by Linardakis, Sarri, Pateraki, Sbokos, & Kafatos (2008), most of the children in preschool who were eating sugar and drinking soft drinks had some obesity and other health problems. The survey took place in Greece and tested children from different genders and ages from preschools up to the age of 7. They found out the children who were drinking soft drinks regularly and eating sugar-contained foods/snacks were two times at higher risk than the children who were taking a little to non-sugar added foods.
