A marriage is a kind of relationship between two people that fall in love with each other; it is also the ultimate expression of love and the way they have been recognized their relationship from family and society. “Same-sex marriage, also known as gay marriage, is the marriage between people of the same sex, either as a secular civil ceremony or in a religious setting.” (Wikipedia) The only difference between a same-sex marriage and an opposite-sex marriage is the sex of the groom and the bridge. Same-sex marriage is the most controversial and hotly debated issue in the whole world and there are a lot of mixed opinions about it. In the early 90s, people little by little accepted the homosexual relationship and some of them fought for the rights of homosexuals. They are just human so they have the right to love and marry who they love. Therefore, the news “What’s the big deal about gay marriage?” of Gel Santos Relos on “ASIAN Journal” shows how same-sex marriages were accepted and their benefit since then.
To begin with, let’s start by talking about overview of gay marriage. Around 600 years ago, gay marriages have existed in different forms. (Tulchin, 2007) It is nothing new with people, sometimes a marriage was not always the connection between a man and a woman. In many countries, a gay marriage has not been allowed but heterosexual love and homosexual love still coexist. Until 2000, The Netherlands is the first country recognized same-sex marriage in the world.
