Dropping the nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki saved hundreds of thousands of American lives. The Second World War was the most devastating war in the history of mankind. Japan’s militarism widely supported the United States’ decision to drop the nuclear bomb. The Manhattan project also helped develop the nuclear bomb’s and it was inevitable that we were going to use them at some point. Japan attacked the United States first at Pearl Harbor. Lastly, ending the second world war was the main objective on every country’s agenda in the 1940s and dropping the nuclear bombs quickly ended the war.
Japanese citizens were armed and had total sacrifice for their country. The Japanese also had kamikaze units which were designed to pack as many explosives on the plane as possible and ram into an enemy warship. This showed the world that the Japanese would give up their lives to help Japan in war. Although many Japanese were taken prisoner, many fought until they were killed or they committed suicide.
