To Whomever It May Concern,
Though there are many different opinions on the matter, the United States should allow refugees from Syria and Iraq to resettle in our country. I feel like this because what is happening to the refugees in their own countries could almost be called a holocaust reprise. They are being targeted because of their religion which is exactly what happened to the Jews in WWII. The refugees are just looking for a place where they can be open about what they believe without being worried that someone will harm them or their family because of this belief. What better place to find this safety than the land of the free? In Syria and Iraq the Islamic State extremist group or ISIS is trying to take power and make its own country. If you do not believe the same as this group, and they find you, you are as good as dead. This same thing happened in the 1900s when Hitler and the Nazi army believed the Jews should all be wiped out. The US has taken the side of the “victims” in both these situations and helped in fighting for the targeted groups’ freedoms. We have taken their sides by joining in on the war, but we also have created safe places for the refugees to resettle. Some people say that we should not help the refugees in fear that we

We would not only be providing feelings of freedom and safety, but we would be saving hundreds of lives. In certain areas of Illinois, including Chicago, refugees live happy lives along with their American neighbors. They learn job skills, and make new friendships. The original citizens of the United States are able to learn something too. They learn about the conditions in the refugees home countries, the stories of how hard it is to survive and stay hopeful for better times.
