Today, PEDs, Performance Enhancing Drugs, have become a major conflict in the world of sports. Hence its name, PEDs increase athlete’s performance and are currently illegal. The fact that they are against the law doesn’t stop over 20% of players to take them. The only way to level the playing field is to legalize PEDs. There are more options than doping that give athletes unfair edges in sports. A quote the article, “A Beam in Your Eye” says, “If steroids are cheating, why isn’t LASIK?” 20/20 vision allows people to see approximately 10 feet away. One of the greatest arguments against PEDs is that they’re harmful for the body, but any sport has physical injuries. For example, a former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann broke his leg mid-game , ending his career, and is now suffering the long term effects of concussion. Injuries are expected from football, but cyclist Johnny Hoogerland got hit by a media car during a Tour de France and got flung into barbed wire. Athletes depend on sports for many reasons, like money, and injuries halt their career. HGH, human growth hormone, can help them heal faster and play again. HGH is already used for short, healthy children because the Food and Drug Administration approved it for its safety and efficacy.
