The president is one of the highest and most esteemed office in the United States. The last two elections was noticeable for many reasons. Obama and Trump are polar opposites in many facets however what made them truly remarkable is the differences in their support base. Support bases can be defined as those who give aid or approval to subscribe to support a political candidature. It is beneficial to compare Obama and Trump when discussing support base because their campaigns highlighted how support base can and will affect voters and the elections. Support bases within voting can be broken down into four main categories: Political alliance, age, demographics, and educational level. It is entirely possible for those who come from the four categories of support bases to have supported both Trump and Obama. Partisanship within politics means to be a strong supporter of a party or a cause. Many people have partisanship which results in party alliance. Once party alliance occurs elections can be pretty much predicted. It is important to know that Trump is a republican conservative while Obama is a democrat liberal so they tended to have receive most of the votes within their party or party philosophy. As evidence, Trump held 81% of the conservative vote, 41% of the moderates, and 19% of the liberal vote. Obama held 86% of the liberal vote, 56% of the moderates, and 17% of the conservative votes. Most people tend to vote within their party with little to no outside voting. The reason mostly conservatives voted for Trump is because he represented their values and goals.
