Every year a countless number of people are injured from the game of football. These people obtain all types of injuries from shoulder dislocations, to torn ACLs, to concussions. Many of these injuries are from the rules of the game and the way the sport is played. This is why it is necessary for the rules of football to be changed. The main reasons they should be changed are because the game is resulting in injuries and deaths, negative long-term health consequences for players, and children not being allowed by their parents to play due to the dangers of the game. Currently, in the United States, there are approximately 1.5 million young people participating in organized football leagues. These people are playing one of the most dangerous sports and have a high probability of becoming injured as a result of the game. To discover the chance of becoming injured directly from football a study occurred at 100 Texas high schools. This study tested only high school football players. These injuries would scare any parents and would deter them from allowing their sons to play football. Over the years, more parents have become stricter on the decision to allow their children to play football. Based on a survey in 2016, only 75% of parents would allow their children to participate in the sport. This number in 2013 was 87%. The number of parents that would allow their children to play decreased because of the of the recent news of the negative health issues associated with playing football.
