Amanda Ripley, the author of “The Case Against High-School Sports”, made many good points that can create much controversy when it comes to high-school sports, due to the cost and the academic problems it may be creating amongst the students. She interviewed many people who have experiences banning high-school in order to save money for their school district and the school itself. As the teachers go along with trips they need to get substitutes to back them up, and the schools need to pay for hotels and meals along the road (Ripley). The article is trying to say that the sports put a big hole in the schools budget and paychecks to pay for their athletics. As we can tell, the data is clear, that schools should stop sports because they cost too much for all the bills and new things that make the team look bigger and maybe even better. While some believe that athletes should have their own choice at making a decision to go pro straight out of high school, they should not do so because they will not be able to manage their million dollar contracts respectively. Rough Draft Cross country is probably the simplest sport anyone will ever play. All they need is a pair of sneakers and a water bottle. The team runs together, but also as individuals. Running, that word gives many people different emotions that range all the way from disgust to excitement. Most people will say that they would never willingly run, at least not without some motivation and other people might even say that they enjoy it. Many of these schools should not have sports because of the reasons just stated.
