This graduation party season many parents will be arrested for something they didn’t know was going on - underage drinking. There are laws called Social Host Laws that say parents are responsible for what goes on even if they don’t know what's happening. Underage drinking is one of the main things that get parents into trouble with the law.
During parties, it's extremely difficult to control large numbers of teens. In Text 3 it states, "Many parents and other adults don’t realize how easily teen parties can get out of control". This proves that teen parties can get out of hand quicker than most parents think because if there are a lot of teens and only a few adults, the teens can pretty much do whatever they want to. In Text 2 it says, "Or parents can host gatherings in which they supervise and control the behavior of the young people who attend to protect their safety and well-being" (lines 32-33). Parents can reduce the chances of having alcohol related accident if they watch the teens carefully. If the teens do get drunk the parents can make them stay until their parents can pick them up or they can call a taxi or Uber to get them home safely. In lines 14-15 of Text 1, "In my opinion the age of alcohol consumption in the United States should be lowered to age 18 in controlled environments. These include restaurants, anytime or any place with parents or in pubs where alcohol where alcohol is consumed on premise.
