Did you know that some schools continue schooling year round? That is still 180 days of schooling, they just stretch it out over a whole year. Some schools think this is a better way to teach education. Some schools do not agree. According to https://articles.niche.com there are approximately 3,181 year round schools in the United States. Kids should not attend year round schooling because it will lower the amount of effort students put into their work. With the seasons changing into summer, students are usually occupied with many outdoor activities, hobbies, and sports like football, soccer, tennis, basketball, etc. Students would start to lose focus on schooling. Students are already being worked hard, causing stress for some students even without year round schooling. Along with that, summer activities would have to be put to a halt. Therefore, students will not be able to enjoy the weather while it is summertime. If you were a student you wouldn’t want that would you? A longer school calendar would also cost the government more money, which some school districts can hardly surpass as is. According to www.NPR.org it costs average $10,615 per student on a regular school schedule already. New York and the district of Columbia spends up to $18,000 per student already. Some schools are barely able to afford this, which would only make it a bigger struggle to afford year round schooling for every single student of the district. Some people may argue that with year round schooling students may learn more on a year round schedule. On a year round schedule students might not suffer from learning loss. This is only if the student wants to learn. You cannot force a student to learn. It is something that they have to want for themselves.
